The State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) has added two new commuter FSAs for the 2023 plan year. These new FSA options provide reimbursement for specific commuting expenses, so please pay close attention to what is considered an eligible expense to determine if these accounts would be beneficial for you.

Both of these accounts accrue a balance throughout the year as contributions are made as opposed to being front-loaded at the beginning of the year. Unused contributions can be carried over into the following calendar year.

The Mass Transit FSA allows reimbursement for qualified mass transit tickets or passes, or State of Kansas vanpools. Eligible expenses could be buses or other types of mass transit passes.

The Parking FSA allows reimbursement for parking associated with your daily commute. Parking fees for WSU employees to park on our main campus are deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis so would not be eligible for reimbursement from the Parking FSA. For this reason, the Parking FSA is not shown for WSU employees in their enrollment portal. If you have an interest in the Parking FSA for non-WSU parking expenses, please contact totalrewards@wichita.edu. We can request that the Parking FSA option is added to your enrollment portal.

For more information about the new Commuter FSAs, please refer to the SEHP 2023 Health Benefits Enrollment Guide.

Get yourself and your family vaccinated! A yearly flu vaccine is the first step and most important step in protecting against flu viruses.

This is a reminder that benefit-eligible employees and their spouses who participate in HealthQuest can earn three credits for getting their flu shot this year.

The State Employee Health Plan will not be organizing on-site clinics this year because of wide availability of on-demand services available at pharmacies and drug stores. You can also get a flu shot at your regular health care provider’s office.

Mid-Review Sept. 1-30 - Managers, Update Employee Expectations, Competencies, and Goals. Meet with Employee to Review. Provide a Copy of Evaluation Mid-Review to Employee. - myPerformance: Non-Teaching Employee Performance Evaluations. wichita.edu/myPerformance.

Annual Non-Teaching Employee Performance Evaluations for 2022-2023 are still accessible to managers to complete the mid-review step of the myPerformance evaluation cycle. Mid-review should be completed by 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30.

The 2022-2023 review period began March 1, 2022, and ends on Feb. 28, 2023. Managers should update/add content regarding expectations, competencies and goals for the current review period, then meet with their employees to review and provide an updated copy of the evaluation.

For more information, including myPerformance training, quick reference guides and other resources, visit wichita.edu/myPerformance.

Helpful Hints:

  • Managers have unlimited access to update and edit content on evaluations in myPerformance evaluations until the Employee Self-Evaluation begins on Jan. 16, 2023.
  • Managers can add co-planners during this step. A co-planner is someone who has managed a portion of the employee’s work assignment during the evaluation period.
  • Remember to submit after saving every time you update a myPerformance evaluation. Direct reports will not be able to see the information, and you will still have access to their evaluation until Jan.16, 2023, even after selecting submit.
  • Direct reports will not be able to access their 2022-2023 myPerformance evaluation until the Employee Self-Evaluation step beginning Jan.16, 2023. This is why it’s important that you provide them with a copy, for reference throughout the year, when you meet with your employee at the September 2022 to review.
  • Need a copy of a past performance evaluation? Check the box that says, “Show completed and expired tasks,” then “Search.” After selecting the evaluation, you’ll have to option to print/save to a PDF.
  • myPerformance Training is available as an online module through myTraining and includes a condensed “myTraining for Managers” version.
