Beginning Oct. 1, the 2023 State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) will open enrollment portals throughout the day. All benefit-eligible employees should have access to their benefits open enrollment portal by close of business on Oct. 1. Open Enrollment will end Oct. 31.

As in the past, this is an active enrollment, meaning that all covered state employees must participate, or be enrolled in a default plan.

Mid-Review Sept. 1-30 - Managers, Update Employee Expectations, Competencies, and Goals. Meet with Employee to Review. Provide a Copy of Evaluation Mid-Review to Employee. - myPerformance: Non-Teaching Employee Performance Evaluations. wichita.edu/myPerformance.

Annual Non-Teaching Employee Performance Evaluations for 2022-2023 are still accessible to managers to complete the mid-review step of the myPerformance evaluation cycle. Mid-review should be completed by 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30.

The 2022-2023 review period began March 1, 2022, and ends on Feb. 28, 2023. Managers should update/add content regarding expectations, competencies and goals for the current review period, then meet with their employees to review and provide an updated copy of the evaluation.

Helpful Hints:

  • Managers have unlimited access to update and edit content on evaluations in myPerformance evaluations until the Employee Self-Evaluation begins on Jan. 16, 2023.
  • Managers can add co-planners during this step. A co-planner is someone who has managed a portion of the employee’s work assignment during the evaluation period.
  • Remember to submit after saving every time you update a myPerformance evaluation. Direct reports will not be able to see the information, and you will still have access to their evaluation until Jan.16, 2023, even after selecting submit.
  • Direct reports will not be able to access their 2022-2023 myPerformance evaluation until the Employee Self-Evaluation step beginning Jan.16, 2023. This is why it’s important that you provide them with a copy, for reference throughout the year, when you meet with your employee at the September 2022 to review.
  • Need a copy of a past performance evaluation? Check the box that says, “Show completed and expired tasks,” then “Search.” After selecting the evaluation, you’ll have to option to print/save to a PDF.
  • myPerformance Training is available as an online module through myTraining and includes a condensed “myTraining for Managers” version.

The 2023 fiscal and academic year annual appointment notices are available online and will not be printed and distributed to departments. Today, Aug. 31, is the deadline to complete your notice.

Please note that University Support Staff (USS) and non-benefit-eligible employees (students, lecturers and temporary employees) are not subject to the annual appointment notice process.

Therefore, Unclassified Professionals (UP) and faculty can view, electronically acknowledge, and print their 2023 appointment notice through myWSU:

  • myWSU (Chrome is the preferred browser.)
  • Faculty/Staff tab
  • Human Resources links
  • Notice of appointment (You may need to clear the browser cache to see the link.)

The 2023 appointment notices will be available to view, electronically acknowledge, print and revisit through Aug. 31. Due to the sensitive nature of this data, always close the browser to protect privacy.

New Banner Schedule Builders are invited to attend the upcoming spring 2023 Schedule Building Training sessions July 19-20 presented by the University Applications Training and the Registrar’s Office. Both Sections one and two are required for new schedule builders. Attendees will learn to enter the course schedule and view information using Banner 9, Self Service, and WSU Reporting.

A request for access to Schedule Building and registration in myTraining are both required. The employee’s supervisor must first submit a request for access and approval for an employee to attend the training to stusecurityaccess@wichita.edu prior to registration. The employee can then register for the upcoming sessions posted in myTraining. myTraining can be found by logging in to myWSU > myTraining.  Spaces are limited and restricted to new schedule builders only. New schedule builders are those who have not been through the training previously and will be building the upcoming schedule. The university has established a strategic goal to provide fair and equitable pay for employees that is competitive and will enable us to attract and retain valued faculty and staff members. In support of this goal, the university allocated nearly $6 million for the purpose of making pay changes based on the comprehensive base pay analysis that was completed this spring.

The comprehensive base pay analysis included all benefit-eligible teaching (554 positions) and non-teaching positions (1,164 positions). Base pay adjustments will be made for benefit eligible faculty and staff at the start of FY 2023 to advance pay equity where gaps in pay were identified. In addition, market adjustments will be made to move those who are at the lowest market positions. As a result, of the 554 faculty positions, 393 or 71% will receive an increase and 660 of the 1,164 staff positions, or 57% will receive a pay increase.

In accordance with the university pay philosophy and the funding allocated for pay changes, a fair and consistent methodology for making pay changes was adopted. Pay changes will be effective June 12, 2022, and reflected in the paycheck dated July 8, 2022. Employees will be notified of pay changes via their WSU email on June 10, 2022.

Moving forward, the university will review pay for employees on an annual pay cycle.  Future annual reviews will include internal equity and external market and will be used to determine future pay changes.
