Shockers, did you know about the numerous student organizations you can join on campus? From sports clubs to cultural and international clubs, there’s an organization for you to get involved on campus and collaborate with your peers.

This week’s student organization is the Women’s Soccer Club, designed for women who want to continue playing soccer, stay in shape or try a new sport in college. The club is a way for you to play competitively without the time commitment of a university sport.

  • What is your organization’s mission?
    The Community Service Board seeks to unite individuals in creating collective actions, which will address issues of public concern through service and active citizenship in the community.
  • Why should students join your organization?
    Students should join our organization to develop their love of service and strengthen their connection to WSU and the greater Wichita community. They have the opportunity to volunteer with other students from all backgrounds while improving the community surrounding them.
  • What events does your organization host throughout the year?
    Along with our weekly meetings that are open to all students, we also host several recurring volunteer events throughout the semester including Wednesdays at the Diner, Foodbank Fridays and many more that can be found on VolunteerICT. We also host Wu’s Big Event, which is our largest service event of the year. Participants receive a free T-shirt and catered lunch.
  • What is something you want the campus community to know about your organization?
    We want the campus community to know that CSB has a service event for everyone. You can make such meaningful connections, learn important skills and change lives at these events.
  • What are your hopes for your organization in the coming school year?
    For this coming school year, we hope that CSB reaches and engages with more of our campus community and fosters a larger community devoted to service.

Community Service Board, General Meetings take place on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. in Room 142 of the RSC. Students may register at wichita.edu/csb. Please attend meetings to learn more.

Join the Community Service Board for its weekly meetings to learn more about volunteering, tour local nonprofits, participate in community service projects and have fun. Meetings are held at 3:30 p.m. every Thursday in 142 Rhatigan Student Center.

Students are invited to join the Shocker Racing Formula SAE Team. Students of all majors are welcome to join to help the club with manufacturing, designing and handling the business of the formula car and club.

Meetings are held at 6 p.m. every Thursday and Friday in 204 John Bardo Center. Questions about the organization can be directed to wsuformulasae@live.com.

Students who want to empower each other and Indigenous people on campus are invited to join the upcoming Indigenous Student Collective (ISC) student organization.

The ISC will set meeting dates in the coming weeks to work out its objectives, mission statement and overall goals for the organization. The organization will be open to all students, as well as those who are non-Indigenous.

Learn and engage in discussions of etiquette to respect culture. The ISC will serve as an educational space that will create positive experiences for Indigenous students and support other Indigenous relatives.

Mortar Board — a national college senior honor society that encourages scholarship, leadership and community service — is seeking nominations for its Wichita State chapter for the 2023-2024 academic year. The Wichita State chapter promotes Reading is Leading, hosts an annual book drive, and reads to children at local elementary schools.

The Mortar Board accepts students of junior status or higher, graduating in December 2023 or later. Members must have a 3.0 GPA and embody scholarship, leadership and service.

The Student Activities Council is looking for executive board members for spring 2023.

This opportunity lets you build skills in leadership, teamwork, event planning and collaboration. Students who are selected will receive a semesterly stipend of up to $1,000.
