Following Shocker men’s basketball’s win against Tulane Feb. 8 in New Orleans, the team is in the running for taking the first place slot in the American Conference. To help keep the momentum going, Shocker Athletics is offering $10 tickets to Wichita State faculty and staff to the next two home games in Charles Koch Arena:

  • The team is looking for a repeat against South Florida at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11
  • Help men’s basketball take revenge on Tulsa at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14

Vichitraporn Vimuktananda stands ready to return a serve

After garnering six total match victories, Wichita State’s Vichitraporn Vimuktananda was named the American Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week by the conference office on Feb. 3.

Vimuktananda earned three victories each in singles and doubles over the last two weeks of competition. She was pivotal in the Shockers’ two road victories last weekend against Iowa State and Iowa, posting a perfect 4-0 record. Her 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles against Iowa Feb. 1 was the clinching point in the Shockers’ 4-2 victory.

Wichita State Men's Basketball - Black Out Mental Health Stigma January 21 6:30 PM

Mike Kennedy commentates a game at the Roundhouse

Longtime Wichita State broadcaster Mike Kennedy has been honored with the National Sports Media Association Kansas Sportscaster of the Year award.

Kennedy, the legendary play-by-play Voice of the Shockers, will retire at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, marking the close of a historic 46-year broadcasting career with the program.
