There will be temporary road closures along the north end of campus for the Suspenders4Hope 5K from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday Sept. 30.

Most campus buildings and parking lots will be accessible from the entrances off 17th Street. Vehicles parked in the Shocker Hall loading zone, Lot 8, Lot 4 and Lot 14 will not be allowed to leave the lots during the 5K for runner safety. Individuals and residents in these lots need to move their vehicles from these areas if they need to leave during this timeframe.

Lot 41, the lot near Woolsey Hall, will be closed until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 for an event. The purpose of the lot reservations is to help accommodate large group of guests visiting campus for an event.

Wichita State affiliates are not to park in lots closed for a reservation and could be subject to a parking fine if they do. Red reserved and ADA stalls will still be available for their intended purpose on this day.

Food for Fines, September 5th through 8th

Food For Fines is an initiative to serve the population of Wichita State while supporting the Shocker Support Locker. During the week of Sept. 5, certain parking and traffic citations can be forgiven with a designated donation to the Shocker Support Locker.

Donations can be dropped off at the Student Government Association office in 219 Rhatigan Student Center.

For more information and details about the program and donation eligibility, visit the SGA website or email the student advocates at sga.gradadvocate@wichita.edu or sga.ugadvocate@wichita.edu

New parking signage at YMCA

Parking at the YMCA, Lot 40, is limited to two hours and is only available to those who are actively using the YMCA.

Citations will be issued to those who park for longer than two hours or use the parking lot while not in the YMCA. Because of ongoing unauthorized parking in the lot, fines will be doubled for those who receive a citation.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Lot 41, the parking lot near Woolsey Hall, will be closed Thursday, Aug. 17 for the WSU American Marketing Association awards ceremony at Woolsey.

ADA and reserved spaces will still be available for use.

There will be limited parking in the garage and Lot 7, the parking lot just south of the RSC, Friday, Aug. 18 for the NXT Level Garage Party.

Red stall owners will be allowed to park in their stalls like normal until 5 p.m. Parking will also be available on level two of the garage and in lot 7 until 5 p.m. Faculty and staff who typically park on level 4 with their ePermit are welcome to park on level 2 with their ePermit this day only. Parking on levels 3 and 4 will not be available.

The full garage and Lot 7 will close for the event at 5 p.m. and will remain closed through the weekend. Normal garage usage will begin again Monday, Aug. 21, with a small number of stalls on level 4 staying blocked off during the day Monday.

Graphics of the different parking signage at parking lots

Wichita State posts signs at every parking lot on campus to help you find where to park.

The signs feature big block letters and colors: “V” and white for visitors; “S” and green for students; and “F” and yellow for faculty and staff. Reserved lots and parking spaces are marked with red signage.

ePermits can be purchased online and are required to park in student, faculty and staff parking lots while school is in session during the enforcement period from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors may park without an ePermit three times each semester before an ePermit is required.

And check out the interactive campus map to find parking lots. Simply select “Parking and Transportation” from the navigation menu and choose the type of parking you’re looking for.

Map of campus with Research Place highlighted

Research Place — the road connected to Lots 13 and 15, just south of Wilkins Stadium — will change to two-way traffic at the end of the day Friday, Aug. 18. The road has previously been only one-way traffic.

Map of area

Lots 3N, 3S and 11 near Cessna Stadium will reopen in time for the fall semester. The construction fence will remain in place, however the gates will be open for lot use.

Lots 3S and 11 will continue serving as yellow faculty/staff lots and Lot 3N as a green student lot. These lots will be available for use until approximately Thanksgiving Break, when they will close again for the next phase of construction work on Cessna Stadium.

Additional parking for both faculty/staff and students in this area is available in Lot 34, located north of 21st Street at Yale Avenue.

Perimeter Road from Alumni Drive on the northside of Lot 16N to Yale Avenue will allow for eastbound traffic only from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 and Sunday, Aug. 13.

No westbound traffic will be allowed on this stretch of Perimeter. This is to assist those currently moving into Shocker Hall by allowing students and their families to temporarily park along Perimeter to unload their vehicles.
