Now is the time for student to check their class progress and reflect on the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the semester. Students can do this by locating their grades in Blackboard and attending academic success programs. Students can also visit the Shocker Learning Center.

Students can also contact student.success@wichita.edu to request a meeting with a success coach or schedule directly at the Success Coach website.

Early enrollment for spring 2023 classes begins Nov. 14. Have you checked your myWSU account recently? Do you have any active holds preventing you from enrolling? If so, you will need to use the time between now and the first day of enrollment to clear your holds and complete your requirements so you are eligible to enroll as early as possible.

Depending on your degree program, you may be required to meet with a faculty member or an advisor before enrolling. Don’t know where to go? Visit Wichita State’s Academic Advising website for contact information and locations of our advising centers.

This time of the semester often brings increased stress and sickness. Luckily, Student Health Services, Counseling and Prevention Services and Campus Recreation offer many opportunities for students to relax and create or maintain a balanced lifestyle. The following resources to help students develop balance:

Students may feel anxious about approaching their professors and need encouragement to interact with them. Despite these reservations, making connections with faculty can help students feel more comfortable in class, get references for jobs or graduate school, and help advise them about career options.

Use the link below and to learn few tips on how to approach and speak with professors. Remember, faculty members are often their best resource for academic success.

It’s never too late to try new tactics in the classroom and at home to improve learning. Students can quiz themselves or other classmates on class concepts, create questions from assigned readings to ask during class, or join a study group with other motivated students to improve academic performance.

Are you feeling overwhelmed prioritizing, studying and juggling multiple roles while trying to meet your academic deadlines? Time management will always be one of the biggest challenges for all college students but Wichita State’s student success coaches are here to help.

Students who want to to improve their time-management skills can find tips and resources in the Time Management section of the Student Success website.

Students can also reach out to their professional success coach for help on time management.

Students, have you been to student hours yet? If your answer is no, take the opportunity this week to visit at least one of your professors in their office during their student hours.

Only a handful of students each semester use this opportunity to get to know their professors outside of the classroom. You might even gain an advisor, mentor or get the answer to your questions from your text.

Now, more than ever, it is important to make connections with your fellow classmates, instructors and helpful WSU staff.

Some helpful tips:

• Try arriving a little early to class to get to know other students and your instructors. Don’t know what to say to your instructor? Check out this page on the Student Success website.
• And get involved! There are a lot of Welcomefest events this month all over campus, giving you a chance to meet people and learn more about resources and organizations at WSU. 

OneStop Student Services will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 1-Sept. 1 at 112 Jardine Hall. During this time, a staff and student worker will be available to answer questions about enrollment, financial aid, student accounts, records and registration.
