Applications for the fall 2022 Women for Women Innovation Award and Moral Family Fund for Innovation Award have been extended to Friday, Dec. 2.

These awards were established to provide seed money to student entrepreneurs with startup ideas.  Students attending Wichita State University full or part-time are eligible.

Overcome your fear of writing by attending the F1RST GEN Scholars Gettin’ Dollars Workshop, which will teach you tips and tricks on how to to write the best essay you can on your scholarship applications.

The workshop is 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in 208 RSC (Office of Diversity and Inclusion).

Registration for spring 2023 classes is now open.

If you have any holds that prevent your registration — such as the mandatory Title IX Sexual Harassment and Prevention Training — you may not be able to register until those holds are lifted.

Funding for Housing and Transportation is available for accepted students. Internship possibilities include legislative offices and advocacy firms.

This workshop, EndNote Citation Management Software, will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 in Ablah Library room 217.

Participants will learn how to use EndNote to upload citation data from library databases, create new citations in various citation styles, organize citations, and insert citations into a Microsoft Word document.

The College of Engineering Graduate Student Ambassadors is organizing a Ph.D. Connect event for all the doctoral students within the college from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 in the RSC’s Santa Fe Trail Room (233).

The event will include a faculty panel on the value of communication and disseminating work, stress management for Ph.D. students, and team activities. Lunch will be provided during the event.

The Wichita State Linux User’s Group (WuLUG) is hosting a free Linux Basics Workshop every Friday starting on Nov. 4. These NetApp-sponsored workshops are open to everyone and begin at 6 p.m. in 231 Beggs Hall.

Linux is a computer operating system used primarily for servers. It is associated with many tools commonly used in IT, software development, cybersecurity, and related fields. Topics covered during the workshop include the Linux command line, common Linux tools, Linux troubleshooting, and the Linux help system. Linux skills are useful for coding, cybersecurity, fixing computers, adding to your resume, personal projects, class projects, and engineering projects.
