flu vaccines at Student Health

Student Health Services has flu vaccines available for WSU students, faculty and staff. Cost is $25 plus administration fee but may be free with your health insurance benefits (all plans are different). Financial assistance for self-pay students may be available for the administration fee. Walk-in to the Student Wellness Center 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday for your flu vaccine before cold and flu season.

Student Health Services is also hosting two upcoming pop-up flu shot clinics:

  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 in Shocker Dining Hall
  • Noon-1p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 in the Shocker Success Center

Attendees can sign up for 20-minute consults to discuss surveys, research projects, Qualtrics projects and similar items regardless of skill level. The consultations will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 in 302 Woolsey Hall. Prior registration is required, as space is limited.

This workshop is a great opportunity for:

  • Graduate students working on a thesis or dissertation involving survey/questionnaire-based data collection
  • Staff/faculty needing assistance with surveys
  • Staff/faculty using Qualtrics for other projects (for example, forms, registration for events, internal assessment)
  • Staff/faculty/graduate students who have questions about Qualtrics and related topics

Hosted by Dr. Lynn Matthews, assistant professor of marketing, and Whitney Crager, research analyst.

10/6 - 10/10: Food for Fines. Parking or traffic citation? Donate to Food for Fines and have your fines forgiven. Drop off: RSC 216 or Parking Services

Food for Fines is back, which means from Oct. 6 through Oct. 10, you can reduce or clear your parking citations by donating non-perishable food or personal hygiene items to the Shocker Support Locker, which provides food, clothing and other essentials to Wichita State students, faculty and staff.

This is a great opportunity to give back to the Shocker community while taking care of your parking citations. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Engagement & Belonging office in 216 Rhatigan Student Center or at the Parking Services building.

The URCA Hub research grants can be used for travel in direct support of the research project (e.g., books, field sites, museums, historic sites), as well as most materials and equipment. All materials and equipment must stay at WSU once the project is complete. Grants may be used as participant incentives with proof of appropriate IRB approval.

Students who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply:

  • Must be a sophomore, junior or senior (by credit hour)
  • Must have at least two semesters remaining at WSU, including the semester in which they apply for the grant (i.e., a senior graduating spring 2024 would be eligible to apply in fall 2023).
  • Must have a faculty research mentor who is willing to submit a statement in support of the project
  • Has not received funds from this program in the past
  • Must present this project at the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Forum, held annually in the spring

Note: Preference is given to students whose projects are not currently receiving funding from another source (e.g., faculty mentor grants).

More information:

  • Application deadline: Oct. 20 for grants to begin in spring
  • The grant amount is up to $1,500 per application

SEAS (the Student Early Alert System) is a tool used by faculty to identify students who, if they continue with their current academic behavior, are in danger of not doing well in a specific course. An instructor will send you an email encouraging you to seek assistance from them or other university resources. If you get a SEAS email, you are not in trouble. It is simply a nudge for you to look at your current habits and see how you can improve. This message will also include a link to connect to the Student Success team if you need it.
