WSU Math Circle resumes meetings starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10 in 372 Jabara Hall. Math Circle is a program for middle school students.

Math Circles are education enrichment and outreach groups that bring mathematicians and mathematical scientists into direct contact with pre-college students. The goal is to get the students excited and passionate about mathematics.

Middle school students should bring a completed registration and consent form from the website.

WSU Internal Control All-Star Digital Credential

Internal controls help keep resources applied to the mission of Wichita State and the university’s arrow pointing up. Those who earn the WSU Internal Control All-Star digital credential have demonstrated their understanding of their vital contribution to the university’s internal control system.

The WSU Audit Update Blog recently featured a 10-part “Your Role in Internal Control” series explaining the origins and components of internal control systems.

Those interested can earn the “WSU Internal Control All-Star – Credly” digital badge by scoring 90% or better on a 70-question exam about the series that takes about 90 minutes to complete.

To ensure ease of use and the best experience for both faculty and students, Wichita State will offer two proctoring options for online exams in Blackboard this fall.

  • Honorlock (automatic AI proctoring) – Honorlock will provide a proctoring and browser security option handled by an AI. The university is providing Honorlock proctoring at no charge to students.
  • Examity (human proctoring) – Examity will provide a human proctoring experience. Students will be charged for Examity-proctored exams.

It is recommend to use online proctoring only when the faculty believes it is necessary. Human proctoring, via Examity, is best used to provide an option for students who may not be able to make it to campus to take an exam in person and not as a requirement to take an exam, since Examity exam fees will be charged to the student.

To find out more about proctoring solutions at Wichita State, review the recording of the August ARC Session on proctoring.

Watermark’s Course Evaluations & Surveys (CES) tool is Wichita State’s new course evaluation tool. Find more information over the coming weeks in WSU Today about CES.

Today’s focus is “What Is CES?”

  • CES is a course evaluation platform from Watermark. The evaluation portion of the platform is called “Course Evaluations & Surveys” and at WSU, is referred to it as CES.
  • CES has replaced SPTEs as the source for course evaluations.
  • CES is easy to use and is integrated with Blackboard.
  • CES results are electronic and will be available at the end of the semester.
  • Using CES should increase response rates.
  • There is a dedicated CES website that includes additional information.

For questions, contact Sandra Ranney, CES administrator, at evaluations@ces.wichita.edu.
