Alternative Spring Breaks provide students with an opportunity to study and learn about a specific region, its culture, demographics and the unique needs of the area.

For spring 2023, WSU will be taking a trip to Wilmington, North Carolina, March 13-18, 2023, to assist with storm recovery and work on projects related to water and environmental sustainability.

To learn more about how to apply, attend and information session. The information sessions will provide students with details about the seminar and trip logistics. Informational sessions will be held at the following times and dates at 245 Rhatigan Student Center:

  • Noon-1p.m. Sept. 26
  • 5:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 24
  • Noon-1 p.m. Nov. 14

Join the Community Service Board for WSU’s largest one-day volunteer event beginning at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 2. Students, faculty, staff, individuals, groups and organizations, are invited to attend.

Check-in for Wu’s Big Event will be from 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. A kick-off with a light breakfast and information about the volunteer sites will begin at 9 a.m. at the Beggs Ballroom located on the third floor of the Rhatigan Student Center (RSC).

After the kick-off, participants will load buses and head to each service site by 10 a.m. Volunteers will work until 12 p.m. and return to the RSC for lunch and celebration until 2 p.m. Lunch, water and a free T-shirt will be provided to all participants.

volunteerICT is Wichita State's campus-focused partnership with the United Way of the Plains and connects Wichita State students with volunteer opportunities in Wichita.

Wichita State University’s volunteerICT is a campus-focused virtual volunteer service board designed in partnership with the United Way of the Plains. The platform guides you to community partners throughout Wichita who are looking for volunteers. All students, staff and faculty can access volunteerICT with their myWSU account.

To begin searching volunteer opportunities throughout the area:

  1. Log in to your myWSU account.
  2. Locate Civic Engagement under the Campus Involvement tab.
  3. Click volunteerICT and you will be redirected to your profile. Complete your profile to find opportunities and begin volunteering.

As you track your volunteer activities, volunteerICT will add your service hours to a volunteer resume that will keep track of your volunteer hours for you.
