The Graduate School will host a round table discussion featuring first-generation students and faculty at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 at the 266 Rhatigan Student Center. During the event, first-gen students will share their experiences attending graduate school.

The round table will include first-generation faculty, members of Wichita State’s First-Generation Coordinating Council, First Generation Student Organization, Graduate Student Council and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

The Graduate School is partnering with the Academic Resources Conference to present GTA Training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 in the Santa Fe Room (RSC 233) of the Rhatigan Student Center. Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m.

Are you looking for tips to thrive as a grad student, required GTA training, and other orientation activities? Are you an undergrad considering grad education? Check out the Graduate School’s Welcome Week Aug. 11-19.

The Graduate School invites you to view the innovative, state-of-the-art research and scholarly projects being conducted by graduate students and their faculty advisors at the Graduate Research and Scholarly Projects (GRASP) Symposium 9 a.m.-noon Friday, April 29 at the Rhatigan Student Center (Beggs Ballroom).

The event will begin with poster viewings and presentations. Closing remarks and winners will be announced at noon. For more information about the annual GRASP Symposium, visit our the Grasp website.

It’s that time of year to honor your best. Graduate School annual awards nominations are open. Each program may nominate one student who is enrolled in the fall 2022 term for each of the following awards:

  • Tillford Fellowship
  • Delano Maggard Jr. Research Grant
  • Dora Wallace Hodgson Outstanding Graduate Student — Master’s
  • Dora Wallace Hodgson Outstanding Graduate Student — Doctoral

Information on each award and nominations process is available at the Graduate School awards website. Simply complete the nomination form for your program by the deadline for consideration. The nomination period closes at end of day April 18.

The Graduate School is seeking faculty, staff, and community volunteers to judge during the poster session of the 2022 Graduate Research and Scholarly Projects (GRASP) Symposium from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 29 in the RSC Ballroom. We are counting on your volunteer services this year, and this will give you an excellent opportunity to learn about the amazing research graduate students have been engaged in across campus.

To volunteer, please complete this short form before end of business April 15.

The Graduate School and Office of Research will host a grant-writing workshop with presenter Fran Cook 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Rhatigan Student Center Harvest Room (Room 142). The workshop will cover how to make clear, concise and consistent grant proposals.

The Graduate School is now accepting abstract submissions for the 18th Annual Graduate Research and Scholarly Projects (GRASP) Symposium April 29 at the RSC Ballroom. The submission deadline is March 11, 11:59 PM.

GRASP spreads awareness on campus about the state-of-the-art research and scholarly projects being conducted on campus, showcases innovative research, highlights graduate student participation in research/projects, recognizes the research mentoring of faculty advisors, and provides an opportunity for students to practice their presentation skills.
