Bullhorn against a yellow and white background announcing that WSU Reporting Demo sessions are available for registration in myTraining

The wait is over, and the migration of finance reports from Reporting Services to WSU Reporting is complete. New and experienced users are both encouraged to attend a WSU Reporting Demo in Microsoft Teams to learn best practices, tips and tricks.

The topics discussed during the session will include accessing WSU Reporting, locating and running reports, exporting and format options, managing saved searches and shortcuts, organizing the My Content page, and more.

Sessions are scheduled at least once every month and are available for registration in myTraining through myWSU. For more information about the WSU Reporting platform, including guidelines for requesting access to reports, visit the WSU Reporting Hub webpage.

Generative AI is here! Tools like Microsoft Copilot and Adobe Firefly are changing how many institutions, including WSU, conduct business. While these technologies can streamline processes and save time, they may also introduce new security risks for individuals and the university. To help ensure the security of our digital environment, please take a moment to review the new SharePoint site, Generative AI at WSU. This site contains useful information for WSU students and employees of all levels of AI proficiency. Find out more by visiting wichita.edu/ai.

Wichita State’s Information Technology Services (ITS) has recently deployed Jamf Connect for WSU Mac devices.

By utilizing this software, Mac users will have the following benefits:

  • After logging into Jamf Connect, it will verify that your login password is current. If not, it will ask to sync/update your password.
  • Users will have access to a live countdown on the number of days remaining before their myWSU password expires.

Beginning January 2024, ITS will conduct a research and inventory initiative to better understand printer and copier usage across the campus. ITS believes the information gathered from this research will significantly enhance the printing experience and help it make informed decisions about its printing resources.

Here is what to expect:

  • A dedicated student team will visit every office on campus. Their mission is to assess the number of printers in use in each office.
  • These students will carefully pull reports from each printer, allowing ITS to gather valuable data for analysis and to identify best practices.
  • The ITS team will be in touch with each department to coordinate a convenient date and time for the visit, ensuring a smooth process.

ITS appreciates the campus’s cooperation and willingness to assist in this project. The support and collaboration are crucial to its success in making printing at Wichita State more efficient and sustainable.

Questions regarding this initiative can be sent to Warren Glore, ITS project manager, at warren.glore@wichita.edu.

After the summer, all Data Projector Plus (DP+ or “Gray Box”) classrooms and labs will see some small updates. Every room will receive a brighter, full HD projector, the obsolete VGA cables will be removed and replaced with 15-foot-long HDMI cables, and the DVD/VCR combo players will be removed along with any remaining overhead transparency projectors.

The Media Resources Center (MRC) will be maintaining a small inventory of each of these to be available per instructor request. Instructors will still need to provide their own adapter for their device if it does not have HDMI output on it, but they will no longer need to provide their own HDMI cable.

The updates should be completed and ready by the start of the fall 2023 semester. Any questions about these upcoming changes can be sent to Matt Claxton, classroom media coordinator with the MRC, at 316-978-3588.
