It’s never too late to try new tactics in the classroom and at home to improve learning. Students can quiz themselves or other classmates on class concepts, create questions from assigned readings to ask during class, or join a study group with other motivated students to improve academic performance.

Do you need help? Wichita State’s Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) has a variety of mental health services with people ready to help students. Visit their website to view a full list of services.

Are you feeling overwhelmed prioritizing, studying and juggling multiple roles while trying to meet your academic deadlines? Time management will always be one of the biggest challenges for all college students, but Wichita State’s student success coaches are here to help.

Students who want to to improve their time-management skills can find tips and resources in the time management section of the Student Success website.

Students can also reach out to their professional success coach for help on time management.

Students, have you been to your professors’ student hours yet? If your answer is no, take the opportunity this week to visit at least one of your professors in their office during their student hours.

Only a handful of students each semester use this opportunity to get to know their professors outside of the classroom. You might even gain an advisor, mentor or get the answer to your questions from your text.

The TRIO Disability Support Services (DSS) program is still accepting applications for the 2022-23 academic school year.

DSS is a federally funded program that assists and advocates for undergraduate students with disabilities through academic support, resources and services, enabling students to persist and graduate from WSU.

The DSS program provides the following services to students:

• Academic advising throughout their academic career
• Adaptive computer lab
• Career advising and Graduate School information
• Financial advising and scholarship opportunities information
• Study skills workshops
• Tutoring services

Now, more than ever, it is important to make connections with your fellow classmates, instructors and helpful WSU staff.

• And get involved! There are a lot of Welcomefest events this month all over campus, giving you a chance to meet people and learn more about resources and organizations at WSU. 

Wichita State students can attend on-campus university fine arts and athletics events at no additional charge with a Shocker ID, thanks to the Student Government Association.

Support your fellow classmates and faculty while exploring some of the creative pursuits WSU has to offer and display your Shocker pride at home athletic games.

Faculty: Student Conduct and Community Standards has created a video discussing what academic integrity is at Wichita State. Please consider showing this quick, three-minute video during the first week of classes or post it on Blackboard for students to see.

The intent behind the video is to supplement what may already be covered in syllabi and raise awareness regarding academic integrity at WSU.
