Step three for faculty and staff to become Suspenders4Hope mental health advocates is for them to share their stories, like John Kirk has for his fellow students, and be visible, vocal and vulnerable.

#WSUWeSupportU Counseling and Psychological Services

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides a variety of group counseling services to students in multiple areas of focus and concern.

Group therapy is offered due to its effectiveness in addressing multiple challenges individuals face in their lives as well as the unique experience it provides. CAPS runs various groups per semester to address the ever-changing needs of the WSU campus, and group therapy is always at no additional charge.

If you think group therapy is right for you, speak to your counselor or call 316-978-4792 to set up a consultation. No appointment is needed to join support groups.

Groups are in person at the Student Wellness Center unless otherwise specified.

Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) is hosting the Spanish version of the #WSUWeSupportU “Preventing Suicide” training from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 12 in 266 Rhatigan Student Center.

Learn about the tools available to support the community and assist someone in need. Students, staff and faculty are welcome to sign up for the training. Sign up on myWSU under the myTraining section or on the CAPS website. All participants will receive a “#TeApoyamos” T-shirt at no additional charge.

The seventh and final step to being a Suspenders4Hope mental health advocate is to refer students in potential distress to Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) or submit a concern to the CARE Team.

CAPS encourages faculty and staff to take a proactive role in the mental health needs of Wichita State students.
