Tina Murano’s work is a visual representation of different states of mind, from being stuck to a state of flow. Illustrator, animator, web developer, consultant and designer. Joshua Smith synthesizes these skills in the service of telling compelling stories.

Both are faculty at WSU’s School of Art, Design and Creative Industries and artists featured in Transmissions: The XXIV Faculty Biennial, on exhibit until April 22 in the Polk/Wilson Gallery. Join them at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22 in the Beren Gallery at the Ulrich Museum of Art to learn about their inspiration and processes. Refreshments will follow the presentations.

Join Turning Point USA at WSU for Chick-fil-A and a screening of “What is a Woman?” by Matt Walsh at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 in 203 Rhatigan Student Center.

The Immersive Leadership Institute (ILI) is a four-day, three-night overnight experience from May 15 to May 18 that immerses participants in personal and professional leadership development opportunities facilitated in both small and large groups, as well as interactive challenge activities.

ILI is for students wanting to develop and strengthen their leadership skills through self-discovery. ILI is great for students with any level of leadership experience, and students will walk away with improved skills in leading ethically. Topics include emotional intelligence, unique leadership styles, values congruence, ethical leadership, and perceptions and assumptions.

Transportation, food, lodging and ILI T-shirt are all included. Attending ILI can also be taken for one academic credit hour (tuition costs apply if taken for credit) and will satisfy step one of the Engineering+ requirement (for Engineering students). Participants are selected by application only, which closes April 23.

Join the Ulrich Museum of Art for a talk by Kota Ezawa at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the Beren Gallery. The talk will include a discussion of “The Simpson Verdict,” a moving image piece acquired by the Ulrich in 2003, currently on view in the Grafly Gallery on the first floor of the Ulrich. A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m.

The talk is part of the Ulrich Museum’s “Voices from the Vault: The 2000s” series, celebrating the decades as the museum approaches 50 years in 2025.

Campus Recreation’s educational and interactive Wellness Expo is almost here. Those interested in being vendors can fill out the vendor form and join the expo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 in the upstairs gymnasium of the Heskett Center.

Join the Students Activities Council as it hosts a panel about periods for people who menstruate at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 2 in the Beggs Ballroom in the Rhatigan Student Center.

The panel of health care professionals in reproductive health will focus on educating a destigmatizing the period. There will be a question and answer session following the panel.

Registration is encouraged but not required. The registration form includes an area for participants to submit questions that will be addressed during the event.

The Fairmount College Student Advisory Council will host a panel of legal professionals to discuss the occupations in their field from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center.

Dr. Jeff Hershfield will moderate the panel and discussion of the legal professions as a degree option. Light refreshments will be served.

Wichita State’s astronomy club, Club Nova, is holding a bake sale to fundraise for the semester. The sale will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center. Each bag of sugar cookies cost $3.

Join the Department of Math and Statistics for a public lecture by Dr. Terrance Figy and Tinghua Chen, doctoral candidate in physics.

The lecture, “Machine Learning on BeoShock HPC,” will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 in 372 Jabara Hall.

The Drag Show Committee is currently seeking student drag artists who are interested in performing one to three, five-minute sets for the 13th annual Drag Show from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday March 31 in the Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex. The deadline to apply is by 5 p.m. Thursday, March 2

This is a great opportunity for new and experienced drag artists to showcase their talent. Students will be compensated based on the number of sets they do.

Expectations of artists:

• Must be a currently enrolled Wichita State student
• Able to perform at least one set up to five minutes long
• Able to be financially responsible for all preparations including wardrobe, makeup and music
