The University Police Department will host its first Safety Circus. The event will be multi-organizational event with resources, information and demonstrations related to various aspects of safety.

Data Visualization in ArcGIS Savvy Scholar Workshop 11 Oct • 3:00-4:00 PM • Ablah Library In-Person & Online

The next Savvy Scholar workshop focuses on mastering the art of data visualization using ArcGIS. Students can join University Libraries from 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at Ablah Library’s Digital Scholars Commons or participate online in the Data Visualization in ArcGIS workshop.

Led by experienced presenters, the session will equip students with the tools to create compelling visualizations from complex data. Whether they are beginners or looking to refine their skills, the workshop offers valuable insights that can enrich their research endeavors.

Are you a student that also shares the large responsibility of being a parent? This month, the Office of Online & Adult Learning (OAL) is celebrating Student-Parent Month by hosting a special Tuesday Connections event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 in the Grace Wilkie Annex.

The event is an hour-long social where student-parents can come to meet each other and mingle. OAL hosts the social hour in hopes that those who take on such great responsibility while striving for a degree can create a comfortable environment.

Study Abroad Fair 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 10th at RSC 1st floor

Come to learn more about study abroad programs, scholarships and more at the annual Study Abroad Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center.

There will be over 20 tables set up with information and students will be on hand to share info about their experiences. Those who attend can be entered to win prizes, including study abroad scholarships.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to Mindfulness and Meditation at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 in 240 Rhatigan Student Center.

Mindfulness is focusing one’s awareness on the present moment by intentionally noticing thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations without any judgement. The sessions offer various meditation exercises designed to develop mindfulness and promote holistic wellness.

Registration is open for the 2023 Michael Tilford Conference, taking place Oct. 5-6 at Washburn University.

The Michael Tilford Conference provides an opportunity for those in education, with community business leaders, to examine diversity in education and business by discussing challenges and opportunities:

  • Inspire awareness of multiple dimensions of diversity, related practices of inclusion and the transformation of education.
  • Participate in workshops to learn about challenges and strategies for teaching diverse populations on campuses and in classrooms.
  • Share passions for teaching and interacting with students from all backgrounds.
  • Reinforce the integration of multiple dimensions of diversity into student academic and personal development components.

Student Health Services (SHS) is hosting its next Pee for Pizza event. It will take place noon-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Student Wellness Center in the Steve Clark YMCA.

Pee for Pizza is a sexual health awareness event that allows participants to test for sexually transmitted illnesses such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV and hepatitis C and know their status at no additional charge. Pizza is also provided to participants.

Co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Positive Direction and Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes, Pee for Pizza is by reservation only. No walk-ins will be accepted. Participants must not use the restroom at least one hour before testing.
