Join the Women’s Leadership Initiative for a presentation by Wichita Mayor Lily Wu from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 in Beggs Ballroom in the Rhatigan Student Center. Mayor Wu will share her journey of leadership and career development, discussing how she found the courage to lead authentically, navigated challenges and transformed obstacles into milestones for success. She will also talk about the impact of women mentors and role models on her journey, offer recommendations for cultivating empowerment and personal growth in the workplace, and share her strategies for balancing professional responsibilities with personal life.

Mayor Wu, elected last fall and serving since January 2024, brings a wealth of experience from her 12-year career as a journalist with KAKE and KWCH. As a Gore Scholar at WSU, she holds dual bachelor’s degrees in international business and integrated marketing communication. She has also contributed to the WSU Barton School of Business Dean’s Alumni Council and the WSU Alumni Association Board.

In partnership with ComPsych, join Kansas WISE from 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 23 to discuss how to respectfully engage others to help them make change. How do you help someone who is stuck or ambivalent about making an important change? Do you give them advice, argue, or debate them to persuade them to make a change? Do you become frustrated when those strategies fail?

Join the Japanese Culture association at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 outside the Rhatigan Student Center for an afternoon of traditional outdoor games commonly played by children.

Games include Daruma-san ga koronda (red light, green light), shiritori (word-chain game) and more. Participants will meet in 203 RSC, Lancelot Room, and move outside to the open space east of the RSC.

The Shockers Vote coalition will be hosting a series of upcoming voter registration drives from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 24 and 26 and Oct. 9 on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center.

While you are there, you can also learn about ways you can get involved with upcoming initiatives sponsored by the Shockers Vote coalition.
