Attend the College of Engineering Fall Open House | Friday, December 8 | 9:30 am to 2 pm

The College of Engineering is hosting its fall 2023 Engineering Open House event from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 in the John Bardo Center. Freshmen will feature their projects on the first floor from 10 a.m. to noon, with senior design projects and other student projects on the second and third floors for the length of the event.

Students, staff, faculty and individuals from both Innovation Campus partners and community organizations are invited to attend. The event is an opportunity for students to showcase their work and practice presentation skills, for staff and faculty to show their support, and for companies and organizations to see the work our students are doing, as well as interact with prospective job candidates.

Attend the annual end of the year party from the Society of Publish Historians to celebrate another successful journey around the sun at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in Fiske Hall.

Officer elections will be held during this time, and Mexican-themed dishes will be served to celebrate.

With the final weeks of classes, join Shocker Financial Wellness for a financial coffee chat to start off the day. Come de-stress with Student Conduct and Community Standards at its Coloring with Conduct event from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 in the Shocker Hall lobby or from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in The Suites lobby.

This event can help take your mind off of finals with a fun and relaxing space to color to your hearts content. Students are invited to bring their own coloring pages, or use one of the many pages provided to use.

On view from Nov. 29 to Dec. 4 throughout all three floors of McKnight Art Center’s west side, Tanna Burchinal’s Studio Tools and Presentation students’ final exhibition, “Midnight Studio,” serves as a catalyst, fostering shared inspiration that illuminates the diverse experiences of young artists navigating the delicate balance between self-discovery and societal norms.

The exhibition offers diverse creative lenses within the 21st century, showcasing a broad spectrum of perspectives created through differing media and innovations.

The Asian Student Conference Dance (ASCD) will sell salmon and tuna onigiri from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 in front of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition, “Where We Belong: Refugee Stories from Wichita,” on display in the Beren Gallery at the Ulrich Museum through Dec. 7, join a film screening of “Midnight Traveler” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 in the CAC Theater.

Hassan Fazili and his family seek asylum when he is threatened by the Taliban in this powerful documentary that shows the hardships experienced by one refugee family as they flee for safety, making the film along the way. Presented in partnership with PBS Kansas.

Fairmount College faculty and staff who would like to take students for a short trip abroad should plan to attend the Travel Seminar Panel at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in 264 Rhatigan Student Center, Spencer Room.

Panelists will discuss how to set up and lead a travel seminar, ways to offer academic content for credit and how these types of experiences can change students’ lives.

Panel participants will include Carolyn Shaw, professor of political science; Fran Connor, associate professor of English; Eric Wilson, senior educator in communication; and Ann Burger, associate director of study abroad and exchange programs.
