A Kansas Honor Flight documentary created by Wichtia State student will be featured at the Tallgrass Film Festival at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Orpheum Theater. Corri Newman, a communcations and sciences major, created the documentary while taking an art class during fall 2021. Newman says  her film is meant to raise awareness about the  Kansas Honor Flight organization.

Wichita State’s Panhellenic Council will host its 2022 Panhellenic Formal Recruitment event Sept. 8-12. Registration ends Sept.7.

Each woman who goes through recruitment will have the opportunity to meet and converse with members from all five of the Panhellenic Sororities at WSU, learn the individual chapter values, learn about the Panhellenic Community and meet new people.

The Graduate School is hosting a session for first-year domestic graduate student or undergraduate seniors in a STEM discipline, who are (or will be) pursuing a research-based master’s or doctoral degree, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Jardine Hall.

During the event, Dr. Coleen Pugh, who will help students craft a competitive application for the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP),

Please recommend this event to your students. The NSF-GRFP is one of the most prestigious programs to recognize and support outstanding graduate students. The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend for the school and a cost of education allowance for the institution.

The Retention Fellows are sponsoring a lunch beginning at 11: 30 a.m. Sept. 9 at 265 Rhatigan Student Center. The lunch is part of a new series called “Teaching Matters,” and the topic of the September lunch is, “Off to a Good Start.”

Local entrepreneur and former Wichita State student Steven Werner, founder of Lawn Buddy and Blue Ox, will discuss his experiences starting out and how to deal with uncertainty as you begin your entrepreneurial journey 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, on the second floor of Devlin Hall (the building located near Cessna Stadium by E. 21st St. N.).

Faculty and staff are invited to join the National Institute for Research and Digital Transformation (NIRDT) at a Campus Invent 8:15 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Woolsey Hall. During the event, participants will learn how Amazon Web Services (AWS) can help transform teaching, learning and research at Wichita State.

The event will also explore and demystify applications and tools delivered through the AWS cloud computing platform in an interactive classroom setting through conversation and hands-on labs. This training will help participants gain a better understanding of digital transformation through exploring opportunities to leverage AWS services (available free to educators) and access to ongoing guidance through AWS office hours.

The AWS Campus Invent is a free, one-day educational event that brings the experience of an AWS conference to WSU.
