In honor of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Oct. 20, Student Health Services (SHS) will accept unused or expired medications 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Oct. 5-20 at the Student Wellness Center. The event is part of the national Drug Enforcement Administration Program to prevent drug misuse or abuse of prescription and over-the-counter medications. The event is co-sponsored by the University Police Department.

Learn more about internships and Ph.D. opportunities in health sciences at an even 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at 339 Hubbard Hall. During the event, Dr. Christopher Horton will discuss opportunities at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, including the graduate biomedical Ph.D. program (GPiBS) and undergraduate summer research programs (SURP).  Horton will also provide information on the application process.

Savvy Scholar Workshops Systematic Reviews Learn what systematic reviews are (and aren’t), and how to read and interpret them. 12-1 p.m., 10/7 - Online

The next Savvy Scholar workshop will take place noon-1 p.m. Oct. 7 via Zoom. The workshop will discuss what systematic reviews are and are not, what makes them systematic, how you can read and interpret them, and how you can write them.

Steven Freedman, University of Kansas’ School of Law dean, will provide students with information about the law school application process, admissions and more 6-7 p.m. Nov. 2 at 262 Herman Room. The event is hosted by Wichita State’s Pre-Law Student Association. Food will be provided for this event. An RSVP is required to attend.

The Department of Industrial Systems and Manufacturing Engineering (ISME) will host a talk by Sami Alami, senior manager, Deloitte Consutling Industrial Products and Construction 11 a.m.-noon Sept. 30 via Zoom.  His talk is titled “Supply Chain Materials.”

WSU faculty and staff are invited to the Grand Opening Celebration of Woolsey Hall at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at Woolsey Hall.

During the event, special remarks from President Rick Muma, WSU Foundation President Elizabeth King, Barton School of Business Dean Larisa Genin and other notable speakers will be broadcast via a YouTube livestream.

Following the remarks, an open house will take place until 4 p.m.

The next physics seminar will take place at 2 p.m. Sept. 28 via Zoom. The seminar will feature two speakers, Dr. Saradindu Samanta and Matteo Vincenzi. Samanta will give a talk titled “Spectroscopy of The Nuclei Around Doubly Magic 56NI Core,” while Matteo Vincenzi’s talk is entitled “A GRAIN of SAND for DUNE:  A Novel UV Camera Concept for Liquid Argon.”
