The Student Government Association, in partnership with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, is proud to announce that we will be hosting the first annual Diversity Week from Sept. 13-17. We invite all students, faculty and staff to join us for a week full of events and unity for the opportunity to come together and learn more about one another.

The goal is to start and continue conversations about the various groups on campus surrounding race, gender, sexuality, social economic status, disability, and political ideologies as a way to bring diversity based education to campus. We are excited to see the turnout of this weeklong event and hope to see you there.

Hidden Figures movie night with Society of Women Engineers, held in Partnership 2 A131 on August 27th, 2021 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm

You’re invited to join Society of Women Engineers for a “Hidden Figures” movie night on Friday, Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Partnership 2 building. We can’t wait to see you there and kick off our semester together with the inspiring true story of some brilliant STEM women.

Join Andy Sykes on Facebook live at noon Sept. 3 for this month’s Lifting Clinic as he discusses back pain and how to prevent it.

Wichita State University has deaf students, faculty members and parents that identify as a member of the deaf community. In an effort to spread awareness of deafness, deaf culture and the deaf community, The Office of Disability Services is hosting an event called Deaf Deaf World from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 in room 142 of the Rhatigan Student Center.

All are invited to come experience a day in the lives of people who are deaf. The event will include informational booths on speech pathology, audiology, American Sign Language, sign language interpreting, deaf culture, and deaf history. In addition, we will have interactive booths for learning signs and showcasing some local deaf talent. A free T-shirt will be given as a door prize to the first 100 participants who attend each booth!

Shockers After Dark: Friday, September 10th from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Rhatigan Student Center. Student Affairs invites students, faculty and staff, and friends to two hours of fantastic free fun at Shockers After Dark. Activities include a mechanical bull, hoverball, karaoke, glow message kits, bowling, billiards, and midway games. There will also be free food and prizes and 150 people will receive a free glow in the dark t-shirt.

Women of Wichita State University invite all female-identifying persons, who are current faculty and staff or spouses of WSU faculty and staff to join, and active retirees with the university to retain or renew their membership.
