Virtual Events: Rocky Mountain Regional and USPTO host virtual workshops through the semester. They’re FREE and open to the public.

University Libraries’ Patent amd Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) will host a vareity of virtual workshops during October. These workshops will include the following:

  • 2022 Hispanic Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program: Learn free and valuable resources available to Hispanic inventors and entrepreneurs 1-4 p.m. Oct. 12.
  • Blockchain and IP Series: USC 101 Patent Eligibility in Blockchain: This event will feature a lively discussion regarding patent eligibility within the inventive blockchain space 4-5 p.m. Oct. 18.

The next edition of Engage ICT will focus on the midterm election at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 at Roxy’s Downtown. With the Nov. 8 general election approaching, attend this event to discuss what’s on the ballot in Kansas. Panelists for this event will include the following:

Literary Feast. A book club for public radio listeners. KMUW Wichita 89.1. How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water A Novel Angie Cruz Author of Dominicana.

The next KMUW Literary Feast will take place 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at KMUW. Dinner will be provided by Public. Literary Feast is KMUW’s monthly book club, featuring selections made by KMUW staff. For October, the staff has selected “How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water” by Angie Cruz.

Students, faculy, staff and campus innovation partners are invited join the Kelley and the Steve Clark YMCA staff for a donation-only fun outdoor event 6-7 p.m. Oct. 4  at Social Tap in Braeburn Square. The event will include a Barre workout followed by food and drink specials.

All donations from the event will go to the Strong Campaign.

The tenth annual Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) workshop will take place 8 a.m.-2:45 p.m. Oct. 22 at Hubbard Hall. EYH is a one-day event primarily for girls in middle school. The event will include hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Attendees will also get to meet STEM role models and learn more about careers in those fields. The ultimate goal of EYH is to motivate young women to consider careers in STEM.

All Shockers are invtied to Beta Theta Pi Volleyball at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 28, at 1845 N. Hillside St. located on the west side across the campus by the McDonald’s. Social Service Fair. Student Engagement Advocacy and Leadership, and Care Team. October 10th from 11-1 on the RSC First Floor. This social service fair aims to provide students with off-campus and on-campus resources and information. Including but not limited to physical health, mental health, disability services, animal education, childcare, educational services, housing, and financial assistance.

Join Student Engagement, Advocacy & Leadership (SEAL) for a Social Service Fair 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 10 on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center. The fair aims to provide students with on-and-off campus resources and information, including, but not limited to, physical health, mental health, disability services, animal education, childcare, educational services, housing and financial assistance. There will also be free food and a chance to win prizes.

Wichita State’s Retention Fellows will host an event for students, faculty and staff at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7 in Room 134 of Woolsey Hall. The event will discuss ideas about how to improve student retention while exploring classroom assessment in several forms including surveys.
