Wichita State visitor guides are available upon request at no additional charge. They are particularly helpful if to share with students, campus or Wichita visitors, or with prospective students. These guides are updated once a year and include information on nearly every aspect of WSU.

These guides can be delivered via campus mail or be delivered to an office.

Contact Garrett Rupp in the Office of Admissions to order a set of guides at garrett.rupp@wichita.edu or 316-978-6293. Provide a campus box number or office number for delivery.

Graphic with the Midwest states in a circle and the text, "Midwest Student Voting Summit. Every year | Every campus | Every vote. Join us virtually March 24, 2023."

Join the Shockers Vote Coalition for the second Midwest Student Voting Summit. The summit will be held virtually from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 24. It will be an opportunity to come together with fellow students, staff, faculty, administrators and non-partisan campus partners to strategize on getting out the youth vote.

All WSU students, faculty and staff are welcome to participate. The conference is virtual, and attendees may join on their own or they can participate with fellow Shockers from the Shockers Vote Coalition in 240 Rhatigan Student Center. Following the conference, there will be time to debrief and talk about next steps for the Shockers Vote initiative and about ways to get involved. Lunch will be provided.

The summit is in partnership with the Campus Vote Project, All In to Vote and Students Learn Students Vote. To sign-up or learn more, email Loren Belew, civic engagement coordinator with Student Engagement, Advocacy & Leadership, at loren.belew@wichita.edu or call 316-978-7016.

The Office of Engagement is excited to bring the first Open Streets ICT to Wichita State and the Shocker Neighborhood on Sunday April 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will be located in Shocker Neighborhood, south of campus, closing roughly two miles of 17th Street from the Redbud Trail Head at Oliver to Tabernacle Bible Church on Volutsia.

The event is designed to further strengthen the relationship and connections between the university and neighboring communities.

Shocker Nation has a unique opportunity to turn the university inside out and share the innovation and creativity coming from WSU with the community. The Office of Engagement invites the campus community to the events and asks they be part of the community building day.

Ways to be involved during the day:

  • Become a vendor and share a message, gather information from the community, sell merchandise, spin wheels for prizes, raffles, and/or create a fun and engaging way to connect services and/or information from a department to the community by hosting activities like games, dunk tanks, Zumba, art projects and more.
  • Serve the community alongside of the Office of Engagement and volunteer for the day.

This week the Wichita State community will begin its United Way campaign. We will help support individuals in Shocker Neighborhood and Wichita State employees and their families.

Last year Wichita State raised almost $38,000, and United Way of the Plains supported 17,356 individuals in Shocker Neighborhood. The top service support categories were emergency social services and case management, food assistance, homeless prevention, and developmental support for children.
