Wichita State is teaming up with Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, University of Kansas, Washburn University, Emporia State University and more to bring you a bigger pool of employers to connect with.

Are you interested in gaining career experience with the U.S. federal government? Join Shocker Career Accelerator for an info session about the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program, hosted by HACU program manager Lorena Del Valle Lopez, at noon Friday, Oct. 11 in 203 Rhatigan Student Center, Lancelot Room.

HACU offers both virtual and onsite internships, along with workshops and webinars to boost your career development.

Fine Arts Career Mixer, McKnight Art Center Second Floor, 10:30 a.m. - noon, September 19, 2024

Look no further than the Fine Arts Career Mixer, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 19 on the second floor of the McKnight Art Center, for an opportunity for you to engage with representatives from diverse creative fields, ranging from art, graphic design, entertainment, music, journalism and more. Immerse yourself in discussions with these industry professionals, exploring their work, understanding their companies and discovering potential full-time, part-time or internship positions they might offer and positions they currently have available.

The Fine Arts Career Mixer goes beyond the conventional career fair, providing a unique and enriching experience. By participating, you can gain invaluable insights into your career possibilities while following your artistic passion. Don’t miss this chance to engage in meaningful conversations and pave the way for a rewarding and fulfilling career journey.

The Washington D.C. and Topeka Internship Program offers qualified undergraduate students, regardless of major, the opportunity to intern and study in Washington, D.C. or Topeka, Kansas, and earn nine hours of course credit.

The internship period is from January to May, and placements are available with members of Congress, the executive branch, interest groups, environmental organizations, education and trade associations, news agencies, embassies, political think tanks and other agencies.

Stipends and housing vouchers are available to students. Attend an information session at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 in 417 Lindquist Hall to hear about what the program has to offer.

Get ready for a major upgrade. Shocker Career Accelerator is moving to a brand-new jobs platform in July.

It’s pumped about the new system but doesn’t want you to miss out on all the job postings, employer-hosted virtual events and other tools you have on Handshake right now.

Head over to Handshake and update your password. This will keep your current profile active and ensure you don’t lose access to these benefits. Learn more about updating your information.

Shocker Career Accelerator has been working on the system weekly and expects to launch Shocker Central in July. Shocker Career Accelerator will inform students how the system works and provide instructions on how to set up your new profile soon.
