Not sure how to begin a research project or thesis? WSU Libraries invites students to attend its workshop, “Writing an Awesome Literature Review.” It will show participants all the tips and tricks they need to get started. The workshop takes place from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8 in 217 Ablah Library and on Zoom.

Open/Alternative Textbook (OAT) Initiative deadline on 2/15/23 There are now two options for course designations: OAT-ZERO Cost, OAT-LOw Cost

The deadline to apply for Open/Alternative Textbook (OAT) course designations is Wednesday, Feb. 15. The OAT program is designed to expand the use of freely available resources in classes to help address the rising cost of textbooks and the impact of that expense on students.

Courses with an OAT designation are visible to students in the course schedule to help them choose classes with low or no textbook costs. The course fee associated with OAT course designations is no longer required.

Looking to invent something? If the answer is yes, attend WSU Libraries’ Entrepreneurship Research Series workshop, Intellectual Property Basics, from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 on Zoom.

Participants learn how to protect their inventions, designs, manuscripts, trade secrets and more. The workshop is in partnership with the Kansas Small Business Development Center.

Savvy Scholar Workshops EndNote Citation Management Software Use EndNote to upload citation data from library databases, organize citations, and more! 4-5 p.m., 11/15 - Ablah 217

This workshop, EndNote Citation Management Software, will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 in Ablah Library room 217.

Participants will learn how to use EndNote to upload citation data from library databases, create new citations in various citation styles, organize citations, and insert citations into a Microsoft Word document.

Entrepreneurship Research Series Patent Basics Showing you the tools of patent searching so you can search on your own. 4-5:30 p.m., 11/8 - Ablah 217

The Entrepreneurship Research Series will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. Nov. 8, in 217 Ablah Library.

During this event, we’ll show you the tools of patent searching so you can continue the search on your own. We’ll also explore the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s patent databases, the European Patent Office’s patent database, and Google Patents using keywords and the patent classification system.
