Attention borrowers. Interest on student loans resume Sept. 1, with the first payment due in October. Loan servicers will send the bill at least 21 days prior to the due date.

However, those currently enrolled at least half time will have their loans be in an in-school deferment. While no payments will be required during in-school deferments, interest will begin accruing on unsubsidized loans. Contact your lender for further information.

Be mindful of scammers and visit the Federal Student Aid website to find your lender’s contact information, review your loan balance and view repayment options. Students never have to pay for help with repayment and should never reveal personal information or account password to anyone.

Join the First-Generation Student Organization and the First-Generation Coordinating Council as they engage in small group discussions about being a first-generation student at Wichita State at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 in 266 Rhatigan Student Center.

A first-generation college student is a student whose parents or legal guardians have not completed a bachelor’s degree. By attending the event, attendees will meet other first-generation faculty, staff and students. Attendees will be provided lunch and a T-shirt while supplies last.

Students who want to empower each other and Indigenous people on campus are invited to join the upcoming Indigenous Student Collective (ISC) student organization.

The ISC will set meeting dates in the coming weeks to work out its objectives, mission statement and overall goals for the organization. The organization will be open to all students, as well as those who are non-Indigenous.

Learn and engage in discussions of etiquette to respect culture. The ISC will serve as an educational space that will create positive experiences for Indigenous students and support other Indigenous relatives.
