Students have many games to participate in from Aug. 20-27. Students will receive virtual points for their college in addition to points won at the in-person event. The winner will be announced in September.

First-Year Programs in Student Success invites students to join the Syllabus Party on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the RSC Harvest Room. Bring your class syllabi and your planners (electronic or paper), and we will provide the rest. Attendees will receive goodies, light refreshments and valuable peer support to help you get organized for the fall semester.

Wichita State’s First-Year Programs in Student Success will have a photo booth available for the first day of fall 2021 classes 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Rhatigan Student Center in front of the Cadman Gallery (first floor).

Stop by to take your first-day-of-school photos. Props and will be available and you can take the pictures with your phone. Show off your Shocker Pride and post on social media with #newshocks21.

WSU First-Year Programs in Student Success and Campus Recreation are looking for enthusiastic individuals to volunteer during the seventh annual Clash of the Colleges on Friday, Aug. 20.

Faculty, staff and students are all welcome to volunteer. Volunteers will be entered in a raffle with a chance for prizes. All volunteers will receive a Clash of the Colleges T-shirt.

To volunteer, contact tahrima.musa@wichita.edu no later than 5 p.m. July 28.

The Office of First-year Programs invites you to Clash of the Colleges Aug. 20. This event will include relay races, team sports and other competitions between academic colleges to determine who rules the school. Come by yourself or with a group of other new students and enjoy an afternoon of interactive fun. Virtual games will also be available Aug. 20-27.

Registration begins July 1. Participants must register to attend.

Join classmates, faculty and staff for this year’s Academic Convocation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at Wilner Auditorium. Academic Convocation is an event that blends Wichita State University’s Common Read program with other student learning and engagement opportunities.

At this year’s event, winners of the 2021 University Faculty Awards will be recognized and will feature a student speaker from the Wichita State Student Government Association. Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, author of WSU’s Common Read book “What the Eyes Don’t See,” will be the keynote speaker. A reception and book signing will follow at the Ulrich Museum on the second floor at 10:45 a.m.
