Join the WSU Admin Support Group for its next Lunch & Learn event at noon Thursday, Sept. 11 in 265 Rhatigan Student Center, Lucas Room. This month’s meeting will feature a speaker from the WSU Foundation and Alumni Engagement who will provide a brief overview of foundation funding and share upcoming staff training dates.

Bring a lunch and stop by to connect with other administrative professionals across campus. RSVP for the event by Sept. 8 by contacting Angie Linder at angela.linder@wichita.edu.

The University Staff Senate has established a scholarship to support the advancement of WSU staff and their dependents. Staff members or their dependents beginning or continuing their first bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply. This scholarship can be combined with university Tuition Assistance and other awards and can be used for tuition, books and fees.

Get ready to build the spring 2026 schedule of courses by registering for a CLSS Schedule Building Refresher, Full Training or Open Lab through myTraining in myWSU.

  • The next CLSS Schedule Building Refresher session will be held virtually from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 23 via Microsoft Teams. The optional session is available to schedule builders who have already completed a CLSS Schedule Builder Full Training session.
  • The next CLSS Schedule Building Full Training session will be held in person from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 17. New schedule builders are required to attend a Full Training session before receiving access to create new sections or edit existing sections for their departments.
  • Schedule Building Open Labs are held in person every week from July 24 to Sept. 3. Schedule builders are welcome to attend these sessions to ask questions, receive hands-on assistance from the Registrar’s Office or simply to work on their schedules in a distraction-free environment.

The Staff Senate is pleased to announce the recipients of the fall 2025 Staff Senate Scholarships. After reviewing the applications, the Scholarship Committee has selected three deserving individuals for the following awards:

William Sandlin – $1,000
William is an incoming first-year student at Wichita State and a dependent of two WSU employees. He will graduate from Wichita Southeast High School, where he participated in baseball, debate and multiple clubs. William served as a mentor to freshmen students and earned awards as a sports reporter in the journalism program. He plans to pursue a major in political science at WSU.

Jasmine Sosa – $250
Jasmine is a new staff member with the Ronald E. McNair Program and is excited to resume her studies in business. She hopes to empower entrepreneurial minds and foster Wichita’s small business community by educating students as a future business professor.

Maria Wehby – $250
Maria is the office coordinator for the School of Education at WSU. She is working towards a marketing degree and applying her studies to improve her professional role. Maria enjoys spending time with her daughter and is dedicated to achieving success in both her career and education.

Looking ahead:
As the Staff Senate prepares for the second year of offering this scholarship, WSU employees are encouraged to support fundraising efforts to maintain the financial health of the scholarship program. It looks forward to continuing to support our students and staff members in their educational and professional endeavors.

The University Staff Senate thanks all who contributed to the scholarship fund and made this first year of awards possible. Congratulations to the awardees. Special thanks to the Scholarship Committee: Kelley Smetak, Angie Linder, Jessica Pierpoint and Anne Marie Brown (committee chair).
