The Office of Academic Affairs has announced the new members of the emeriti faculty. Please congratulate the following retired faculty:

• Diana L. Cochran-Black, associate professor emerita of medical laboratory sciences
• Patricia L. Dooley, professor emerita of communication
• Robert Feleppa, professor emeritus of philosophy
• Sharon B. Goodvin, associate clinical professor emerita of Intervention Services and Leadership in Education
• W. Bartley (Bart) Hildreth, professor emeritus of the Hugo Wall School of Public Affairs
• Lop-Hing Ho, associate professor emeritus of mathematics, statistics and physics
• Ward T. Jewell, professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering
• Linda S. Starkey, associate professor emerita of the School of Performing Arts

Emeritus status is an honorary designation conferred upon retirees in recognition of their contributions and accomplishments over their years of service to the university.

The joint Faculty Senate meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 10 at the National Center for Aviation Training, 4004 N. Webb Rd. and via Zoom.

The senators have been sent the meeting information. The meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of each month.

University level committee service is an excellent opportunity to participate in shared governance and foster collegiality across colleges. The Rules Committee is in the process of recruiting faculty to serve on various Faculty Senate committees.

To assist the committee, faculty should complete the survey by Friday, April 7 to indicate their level of interest in serving on these committees.

The Faculty Senate has two university at-large seats open for nominations to serve a two-year term starting in the 2023-24 academic year.

University at-large senators represent the faculty of the entire university, not just a specific college or division. The senate meets from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month during the regular academic year.

All faculty are eligible for nomination, including current senators whose term expires this year.  Submit your nominations to Lee Ann Birdwell at leeann.birdwell@wichita.edu by 5 p.m. on Feb. 3.  Self-nominations are strongly encouraged.
