Wichita State employees who reached a service milestone between the dates of Sept. 2, 2022 and Sept. 1, 2023 will be honored at events hosted by the university in October and November.

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of five to 20 years of service with the State of Kansas will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30 in 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom. The event is open to all employees to attend and celebrate with their colleagues who are honorees. RSVP by Monday, Oct. 23 if you will attend the event.

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of 25-50 years of service with the State of Kansas, Bender of Twigs (25 years dedicated to Wichita State) and those having retired from the university will be held Thursday, Nov. 9. This is an invitation only dinner event for honorees and their guest.

The 2022-23 annual non-teaching employee performance evaluations will be available for manager signatures beginning Wednesday, March 8 provided that their direct report has submitted their employee signature in myPerformance.

Managers should log into myPerformance to electronically sign and submit their 2022-23 evaluations by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, March 14.

Note: The first step of the 2023-24 evaluation cycle, planning, should now be accessible to managers through myPerformance. Planning should include expectations for competencies and goals from March 1, 2023 through Feb. 29, 2024. If you have not already done so, you should enter this information into myPerformance, then meet with your direct reports by Friday, March 31. Direct reports will not have access to their 2023-24 evaluation until Jan. 16, 2024, so it is important to provide them with a copy to use as a reference throughout the year.

Helpful hints:

  • Progress through each page of the evaluation and select “save” then “submit” on the final summary page for the evaluation to be complete.
  • Check the box that says, “Show completed and expired tasks” if an evaluation has disappeared from the scheduled tasks.
  • Don’t forget that the first step of the 2023-24 myPerformance evaluation cycle, planning, is due on Friday, March 31.
  • myPerformance training is available as an online module through myTraining and includes a condensed “myTraining for managers” version.

The 2022-23 annual non-teaching employee performance evaluations are now accessible for managers to complete the manager review step of the myPerformance evaluation cycle. The manager review should be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The 2022-23 review period began March 1, 2022 and ends on Feb. 28, 2023. Managers should first provide summary comments for expectations, competencies and goals then select ratings for all competencies. Managers can progress through each page of the evaluation and select save then submit on the final summary page for the evaluation to be able to progress to the next phase of the cycle on March 1. Managers should then meet with their employees to review and provide a copy of evaluation.

NOTE: The first step of the evaluation cycle, planning, for your 2023-24 direct reports evaluations should now be accessible to managers through myPerformance. This is available to allow managers to meet with their direct reports to discuss both the current end-of-review (2022-23 manager review) and the upcoming begin-of-review (2023-24 planning) at the same time, if desired. The 2023-24 review period for planning expectations, competencies and goals begins March 1, 2023 and ends on Feb. 29, 2024.

Helpful hints:

  • Managers have unlimited access to update and edit content in myPerformance for the 2022-23 direct report evaluations until the employee signature step begins on March 1 provided that the manager has submitted their manager review by Feb. 29. Direct reports will not have access their evaluation to complete the employee signature step (March 1-7, 2023) until the manager review step has been submitted.
  • Progress through each page of the evaluation and select save then submit on the final summary page for the evaluation to be able to progress to the next phase of the cycle on March 1 for employee signature.
  • You will continue to have access to your direct report evaluations throughout the month of February to edit content (even after selecting submit).
  • Managers can add co-planners during this step. A co-planner is someone who has managed a portion of the employee’s work assignment during the evaluation period.
  • Need a copy of a past performance evaluation? Check the box that says, “show completed and expired tasks,” then “search.” Select the evaluation and you’ll have to option to print/save to PDF.

Non-teaching employees now have access to their annual myPerformance self-review. This opportunity allows employees to provide their input on job performance and accomplishments since the beginning of the current review period that started March 1, 2022.

Employee self-evaluations are due in myPerformance by 11:59 p.m. Jan. 31. Employees can access myPerformance by logging into myWSU and selecting the myPerformance link found under the faculty/staff tab.

Service Recognition 2022

Wichita State University employees who reached a service milestone between the dates of Sept. 2, 2021, and Sept. 1, 2022, will be honored at events hosted by the university in October at the Rhatigan Student Center’s Beggs Ballroom. The 2022 Honorees received their invitation in early October. 

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of five to 20 years of service with the State of Kansas will be held 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 in the RSC Beggs Ballroom (doors will open at 1:30 p.m.).  This event is open to all employees to attend and celebrate with their colleagues who are honorees.  If you would like to attend the celebration, please RSVP as an honoree or non-honoree university attendee by Friday, Oct. 14.

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of 25-55 years of service with the State of Kansas, Bender of Twigs (25 years dedicated to Wichita State) and those having retired from the university will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 in the RSC Beggs Ballroom (doors will open at 5:30 p.m.). This is an invitation-only dinner event for honorees and a guest.

A Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace training will be available 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at the Rhatigan Student Center (Room 261). This interactive classroom training will highlight the benefits of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, social identities, recognizing and understanding microaggressions, understanding how to get past stereotypes and prejudices, addressing issues and how to report them. This training is designed to shape participants’ understanding of diversity and inclusion while providing an open forum for questions and concerns.

This training is free and available to all WSU employees (faculty, staff and student employees). Registration is required to attend. Members can log into myWSU and register through myTraining.

Wichita State University employees who reached a service milestone between Sept. 2, 2020, and Sept. 1, 2021, will be honored at two events on the same day hosted by Wichita State beginning Oct. 25 at Charles Koch Arena.

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of five to 20 years of service with the State of Kansas will be held 9:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 25 at Charles Koch Arena. The order of events is as follows:

  • 9:00 a.m. Doors open
  • 9:30 a.m. Honoree breakfast
  • 10 a.m. Ceremony

The event for honorees celebrating milestones of 25 to 50 years of service with the State of Kansas, Bender of Twigs (25 years dedicated to Wichita State) and those having retired from the WSU will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25 at Charles Koch Arena. The order of events is as follows

  • 5:30 p.m. Doors open
  • 6:00-6:30 p.m. Dinner
  • 6:30-8:00 p.m. Ceremony

Honorees will be seated in reserved seating on the arena floor. Other Wichita State employees, as well as friends and family, are welcome to attend and observe the ceremony from open-seating available in the arena stands.

The systems conversions to support market-based compensation will take place July 19, and the procedure and form to request, review, approve and process the following employment actions for all benefit-eligible faculty and staff positions are changing: 

  • Search (new and replacement) 
  • Non-search (search waiver and emergency hire) 
  • Workforce transitions (promotions, demotions, and transfers)
  • Off-cycle pay change requests (pay changes that occur outside the annual cycle, which is the beginning of a fiscal year)    

The Position Action Request (PAR) form is a multi-purpose form that consolidates and replaces the following: 

  • Position exception form 
  • Search exception form 
  • HR200/HR220 form for all employment actions listed above 

To further streamline the process and minimize forms, this process will be used by both grant and non-grant funded organizations/positions. 

Note:  Student hires, lecturers, non-benefit eligible temps and all positions in the Division of Industry and Defense Programs are exempt from this process.
