The Beyond the Lab: Research and Reasoning series kicks off a new semester with “Recognizing and Avoiding Junk Science” at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18 in 201 Ahlberg Hall, presented by University Libraries.

Join WSU’s health sciences librarian, Aaron Bowen, to learn how to spot misleading or inaccurate scientific claims. The workshop will walk students through a teaching module developed for public health coursework and equip them with practical tools to critically evaluate information — a vital skill for research and everyday decision-making.

Love Data Week is an annual celebration of data, taking place every year during the week of Valentine’s Day. Organized by ICPSR, the theme this year is “Where’s the Data?” — a way to get people thinking about data’s journey from collection through storage and preservation.

University Libraries invites students, faculty and staff to attend, online or in-person at Ablah Library. Join the livestreamed interactive webinars from the presenting institutions and make binary code bracelets. Love Data Week 2026 will take place Feb. 9-13.

The Library Research Award recognizes students who have effectively utilized University Libraries’ resources for their research or creative projects during the past academic year (summer through spring semesters). There are two $1,000 prizes, one for undergraduate students and one for graduate students awarded annually at the conclusion of the spring semester. Students do not need to have a completed project before they apply.
