The Office of Diversity and Inclusion welcomes Latasha N. Eley Kelly, Ph.D., who will host a workshop titled “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: Overturning Impostor Syndrome” from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center, Santa Fe Trail Room.

The workshop is designed to engage students with an innovative, high-level legal framework for re-evaluating competence, reducing self-doubt and scrutinizing the evidence against self-perceived fraudulence.

Only 30 seats are available for the event.

Join the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) and student organization Shelf Care in celebrating the women who wrote history from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 8 in 266 Rhatigan Student Center, Pike Room, for Women’s History Month.

Honor women authors from various genres, eras and nationalities with an interactive display and bookmark making. The presentation by Shelf Care is at 4 p.m. with free snacks and a chance to win a prize.

Since the beginning, Black educators have performed a vital service to America. From schools to institutions of higher learning, sitting on policymaking boards, executive and administrative positions, it is all about honoring them.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion has moved Black History Brunch to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23 in 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom.

The brunch is limited to 150 guests, so RSVP to attend. ODI hopes you will join it in celebrating Black History Month.

Office of Diversity and Inclusion 16th annual MLK commemoration. Keynote speaker: Kyle Ellison, founding director of Khan Lab School Wichita

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) invites you to join its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. commemoration at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the Cadman Art Gallery in the Rhatigan Student Center, where it will honor the highlights and memorialize the work, accomplishments and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with keynote speaker Kyle Ellison and announce the Drum Major Award recipients.

Ellison is the founding director of Khan Lab School Wichita. He was born and raised in Wichita, graduated from Northeast Magnet High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies with an emphasis in communications here at Wichita State. He believes learning goes beyond traditional academic subjects by encouraging students to explore their imagination, express themselves and develop skills essential for success in various aspects of life. For his pioneering work, he’s received recognition from the Wichita Business Journal 40 Under 40, Wichita Urban Professionals Professional of the Year, Wichita State University Alumni Association Young Alumni Award and the Kansas Nonprofit Chamber 2019 Emerge and Lead Class. Most recently, Kyle was the 2023 H.N. Sims Excellence in Education awardee given by the Wichita NAACP.
