The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is accepting applicants for the 2023 Passage 2 Success leaders.

It is looking for student leaders for its Passage 2 Success program, a retreat held the week before classes begin in August, in which they support students from diverse backgrounds and get them fully transitioned to Wichita State their first year. The deadline to apply is by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 26.

Students looking for an opportunity to build their leadership skills and mentor incoming first year students, while broadening their campus network, are encouraged to apply.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is seeking 12-15 current Wichita State students to serve as leaders for Passage 2 Success. The leaders help incoming freshmen from diverse backgrounds transition to their life at WSU. Being a passage leader allows students to serve as a paid mentor for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Other benefits of becoming a passage leader include the following:

  • Meeting with a group of new WSU students
  • Collaborating with other leaders and making new friends
  • Attending and participating in all Passage 2 Success activities and functions
  • Access to early move-in dates for the residence halls
  • Assisting with the logistics and operations of the program
  • Receiving a stipend to compensate for your assistance
  • Part-time student employment for the 2022-2023 academic year

Applications will be accepted until April 10.

Latinos Lead is receiving applications until midnight Sept. 12.

Latinos Lead is a program that focuses on facilitating a seamless transition from college to the workforce by focusing on three areas: cultural awareness, personal development and leadership skills.

Students who participate will gain improved self-awareness across leadership competencies. They will also have access to a cross-sector and multi-industry network of Latino professionals, and enhance their career presence and personal brand.

Promoting Academic Student Success (PASS) is a program that facilitates the retention, academic success, holistic development and timely graduation of all underrepresented students at WSU, through academic support services, educational and cultural programming, interpersonal relationships and mentoring.

  • Demonstrate accountability for their learning experiences and academic success
