Due to forecasted inclement weather, the upcoming Title IX training event scheduled for Monday, Jan. 8 and Tuesday, Jan. 9 has been canceled.

The organizers thank everyone who RSVP’d, and the training will be rescheduled for a later date in the spring semester.

A Doctor of Audiology student is conducting a study on different procedures of a clinical test evaluating the function of the inner ear.

Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 35, have normal hearing, have not had an ear infection in the past three months or have not had a cold or flu in the past two weeks.

Participants will receive a no-cost comprehensive hearing evaluation and ear examination prior to testing. The testing will take about an hour in room 106 Hubbard Hall. The Academic Resources Conference (ARC) is hosting two hybrid events Wednesday, Jan. 10. If you can’t make it to campus, there will still be an option to attend online as well:

  • Noon-12:50 p.m.: Will have a Panel Hour discussion of “Generative AI’s impact on Business and Work” at the NetApp building on the main WSU campus. Visitors should enter through the main doors on the northwest side of the building. The panel will be held in the “Defiance” room, which is on the main floor, across from the cafeteria. Business leaders from across the Innovation Campus and Wichita will be on hand to provide their insights about the impact of generative AI on their industry. If you plan to come in person, feel free to grab lunch in the NetApp cafeteria first or bring a lunch. For those who would prefer to attend online: Add panel to calendar  Join panel session at noon
  • 2-4 p.m.: Dr. Bobby Berry, Dr. Jennifer Friend and Dr. Sara Mata from the College of Applied Studies will present a session on “Culturally Responsive Practices” in 231/232 Woolsey Hall. For those who would prefer to attend online: Add Culturally Responsive Practices to calendar or Join Culturally Responsive Practices Session at 2 p.m. The presenters would like to customize the presentation, so those who plan to attend in person or online should register for the presentation in advance.

The Office of Instructional Resources is excited to be able to offer these hybrid events, and it hopes to see the campus community in person if possible.

All faculty and staff are invited to explore diverse perspectives and approaches to teaching and professional practices as well as your own social identities during the Culturally Responsive Practices Workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 in 231/232 Woolsey Hall or via Teams. During this workshop, led by Dr. Bobby Berry, assistant dean in the College of Applied Studies; Dr. Sara Mata, executive director of Hispanic Serving Institution; and Dr. Jennifer Friend, dean, College of Applied Studies, participants will engage in reflection and dialogue and create an individual action plan to serve students through culturally responsive practices​.

This is a hybrid session. Attend in person or use the Teams links through the Academic Resources Conference to join online. If you plan to attend the workshop, fill out this form so organizers can plan for online and F2F participants.

Interested in becoming a Title IX process advisor or want to join WSU’s team of Title IX decision-makers? Learn how service can benefit WSU’s efforts in addressing gender-based discrimination and sexual misconduct.

Join departments from across WSU to learn about how to engage thoughtfully and effectively in Title IX processes through this training facilitated by Jeremy Inabinet, an award-winning facilitator who has worked with thousands of college and university professionals to address issues of gender-based violence on campuses across the country. Jeremy has been in higher education administration for more than 14 years and is currently the associate dean of students in the university for disciplinary affairs at the University of Chicago. Jeremy’s training topics include managing investigations, questioning, gathering and weighting information, determined relevance, and bias. Shocker Rowing is looking to recruit students interested in rowing. The team is recruiting for the men’s team, women’s team and for coxswains. No experience is required.

There will be two interest meetings for anyone looking to join at 5 p.m. Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 in 206 Heskett Center.

Beginning spring 2024, students employed in a Federal Work Study position will now be allowed to work up to 30 hours per week. Keep in mind that scheduled hours are determined by department needs.

Federal Work Study program is a need-based financial aid program that offers employment opportunities for students with financial need. The program provides students with valuable work experience, skills, flexible work schedules and enhances their education while providing financial assistance.

With the change in maximum hours, the hope is to increase on-campus employment opportunities for students while providing additional financial assistance, valuable work experiences and enhancing educational experiences at Wichita State.

All other eligibility requirements for Federal Work Study employment remain in effect.
