Tadd Fowler — senior vice president at the Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) and Executive-In-Residence at the W. Frank Barton School of Business — will provide a  keynote presentation titled “Procter & Gamble: How a 187-Year Old Company Stays Relevant in a Changing World at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11 in the Woolsey Hall Auditorium. During the event, Fowler will present the captivating narrative of P&G’s recent transformational journeyshowcasing resiliency, strategic reinvention, and an unwavering commitment to delivering superior products to delight consumers around the world. The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is pleased to announce that Gene Camarena is joining the Dean’s Advisory Board. He currently serves as the president and CEO of La Raza Pizza, Inc. As a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board, Camarena will help advance the mission and strategic priorities of the Barton School by strengthening, enriching, and enhancing programming, impact, and the student experience.

“This spring semester, my wife and I had the privilege of serving as Entrepreneurs-in-Residence for the Barton School,” stated Camarena. “It was an enriching experience, prompting me to seek further opportunities to contribute to the school’s advancement. Join the Community Service Board for the 29th annual Pando STAR Awards. This award luncheon acknowledges the accomplishments of 48 Pando students from around Sedgwick County, nominated by Pando staff at the schools. Around 400 attendees, including sponsors, donors, special guests, and students will enjoy a red-carpet experience, luncheon, and award presentation at the Crown Uptown on Tuesday, April 30.

Pando needs 10 volunteers to help plate and take lunch to the guests at the event. Volunteers need to arrive at the Crown Uptown at 10:15 a.m. for a brief orientation, and they will be given an event shirt to wear while volunteering. Lunch will be available to volunteers after guests have been served.

Parking is available along the street or in the Dillon’s parking lot at Douglas and Hillside.

Join Wichita State University’s Office of Research and WSU Foundation & Alumni Engagement from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 19 in the NetApp building to learn how industry and academia can work together to advance fundamental and applied research.

This event includes presentations on the basics of establishing and benefiting from industry-sponsored research projects and SBIR/STTR grants, including current examples of such collaborations from seven WSU faculty members. Two WSU faculty members will also describe start-up businesses that they established while employed at WSU. WSU’s Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will host poster presentations about the research taking place within the departments of Fairmount College and additional academic colleges.

Wichita State University and Dassault Systèmes will present “Engaging with 3DEXPERIENCE: Expanding beyond 3D modeling and design and manufacturing simulations” on Thursday, April 11.

This session offers an engaging introduction to various facets of product development within an environment supporting product virtual twin technology, utilizing the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. It delves into how core skills of engineering may be built by extending 3D modeling, integrating design simulations, manufacturing programming and planning, and product architecture and multidisciplinary development, all within a unified data environment that can used to foster collaboration and combine competencies. The aim is to showcase emerging technological trends in the product development domain and illustrate how they can align with engineering training. This 90-minute presentation is open to professors, researchers, students, and industry professionals. Join us to explore how these cutting-edge technologies are shaping the future of product development.

A welcome reception begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Harvest Room (room 142) of the RSC. The seminar and a presentation by Dassault Systèmes’ Florent Salako will follow from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Florent Salako, Dassault Systèmes’ (3DS) North American Lead Consultative Academic Advisor, collaborates with higher educational institutions to prepare the workforce of the future. 3DS, a global provider of 3D-based solutions for product development, manufacturing industries, construction and cities and life sciences, emphasizes sustainable innovation using Virtual Twins for workforce development. 3DS underscores the importance of developing skills that eliminate barriers from numerical silos and leverage collaboration with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform using products like CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, SIMULIA, DELMIA, and ENOVIA in degree-granting curricula and research. With more than 30 years in PLM, including seven at 3DS, Mr. Salako has diverse experiences in sectors like education, aerospace, and transportation and mobility. He previously served as a faculty member in engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal and holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from HEC Montreal.

Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre

Wichita State’s School of Performing Arts proudly presents “Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28. All performances will be in Wilner Auditorium.

“Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre” is an evening of new and restaged dance works by WSU faculty and students, and the world premiere of “Clear Elevation” by guest artist Darrell Grand Moultrie (Connoisseur Series).

Tickets are free for students with a myWSU ID; $12 for children; $18 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and military; and $20 for adults.

Join SigEp for a week of events raising awareness for the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center (WASAC).

  • Tuesday, April 16: Visit the north patio of the RSC beginning at 9 p.m. Monday to 9 p.m. Tuesday to learn more about upcoming events at WASAC and enter a raffle for a chance to win a Target gift card.
  • Wednesday, April 17: Grab a bite to eat at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in Braeburn Square location, and 30% of all proceeds will be donated to WASAC.
  • Thursday, April 18: Come play sand volleyball at the SigEp House wearing the color teal.
