Stop by the bus stop near Elliott Hall between 9 a.m. and noon Tuesday, May 7 to share your thoughts with Wichita Transit as it currently develops a Network Plan to guide improvements over the next several years. The proposed route and schedule changes aim to:

  • Adjust routes to provide more convenient and viable service
  • Improve frequencies to reduce wait times
  • Increase access to employment, education and other destinations.

Vote for the 2024-25 student choice dining option in the Rhatigan Student Center (RSC). Tu Taco is leaving and the RSC wants your feedback about what to bring in next.

Lyndsay Pletcher

Lyndsay Pletcher has been promoted to the executive director of budget in the Division of Finance and Administration.

Lyndsay currently serves as senior budget analyst in the division, where she’s been since 2021. She previously served in the Human Resources Office as an operations lead and generalist from 2016 to 2021.

A search was conducted for the position earlier this year. Lyndsay brings a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise to the role.

Wichita Public Schools (USD 259) requests a minimum of 30 business days to process letters of support or participation in research. It is WSU’s responsibility to have appropriate support from the school(s)/personnel that will be involved in the project prior to submitting a request.

Letters of support/grant proposals: WSU personnel who need a letter of support or USD 259 participation on a grant proposal should complete the External-Request for Grant Support form and are encouraged to reach out directly to Holly Wilson at hwilson@usd259.net early in the process for questions/clarification.

Research requests: WSU personnel who want to conduct research in USD 259 must download and complete the Research Request Document. Investigators are encouraged to reach out directly to Will Graves at wgraves@usd259.net early in the process for questions/clarifications.

As a reminder, all proposals submitted on behalf of WSU must be reviewed by the Office of Research prior to submission. This includes proposals where WSU is a direct recipient of funds and proposals where WSU is a proposed subawardee/subcontractor. The campus community is invited to the OAK Supercomputing Conference and High Performance Computing Security Workshop at Wichita State University.

Major topics will include:

  • High performance and high throughput computing (HPC/HTC)
  • Cybersecurity
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)
  • Data analytics and data visualization
  • Internet of things (IoT)

The event will take place May 20-23 and will bring together leading researchers, industry professionals, federal agencies and students from across the nation to share their experience in high-performance computing.

The conference is open to participants from higher-education, government and industry. Attendance is from many of the major national labs, research centers, universities and industry from across the nation. The event will provide a unique opportunity to interact with many of the leading and emerging players in the community. Think about collaborations and funding opportunities.

There is also a number of opportunities for students, including:

  • Several student competitions including posters, presentations and projects with prizes awarded
  • Several free leaning opportunities including Nvidia and Mathlab workshops. The Nvidia workshop, which usually cost around $600, will award a certificate for the students who attend all 8 hours.
  • Several companies that will be there, and a number are looking to hire
  • And food served for free

Michael Sengvilay

Micheal Sengvilay always wanted to help people, which is why he came to Wichita State University to pursue a career in oral health. While at WSU, he persevered through challenges and is now graduating with his bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene and plans to attend dental school.

The Office of Financial Operations and Business Technology, located in 201 Jardine Hall, will be closed Friday, May 3 for staff professional development.

The office will reopen at normal business hours Monday, May 6.
