Learn the history of Wichita State, Fairmount Neighborhood with walking tour

Join Wichita State’s Community Education for an adventure through time right in the neighborhood during the Historic Walking Tour of the Fairmount Neighborhood from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

Participants will meet at Social Tap at Braeburn Square. Jay Price, professor in the Department of History, will be the instructor for the tour.

The Fairmount Neighborhood is more than just a place; it’s a treasure trove of history that’s been intertwined with WSU for over 125 years.

During this tour, participants will explore the Victorian elegance of Fairmount Cottage; step into the Innovation Campus’s modern, 21st-century urban environment; uncover the intriguing history of the Old Frisco Railway, also known as the Redbud Trail; pay a visit to local cemeteries, each holding tales of days gone by; and discover WSU’s historic hangouts and why they’re so special.
