Attend the spring 2025 High DF Course Institute on Friday, Jan. 10

The Shocker Teaching Community of Practice Team will be hosting its spring 2025 High DF Course Institute from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 in the Shocker Success Center and Ablah Library. The morning will provide instructors of high D/F courses with a community of practice to examine promising practices from the Student Experience Project as well as technology resources and resources from the Shocker Success Center that can be utilized with your course. With support of NISS funding, faculty who participate in this experience will receive $50.

Awards and Recognitions

Dr. Matthew Howland wins Community Engagement and Public Outreach Award for 3D archaeology platform

Dr. Matthew Howland, assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology, and colleagues Mohammad Najjar; Brady Liss, University of Vermont; Ian Jones, New York University; Thomas Levy, University of California San Diego; and UCSD grad student Anthony Tamberino, in were recently awarded the Community Engagement and Public Outreach Award by the American Society of Overseas Research for their work sharing information about the archaeology of Jordan with public and Arabic-speaking audiences.

Interested readers can explore the award-winning projects on Sketchfab and ArcGIS StoryMaps. Both projects are available in both English and Arabic.

College of Engineering ranks No. 20 in Cyber Power Rankings

The College of Engineering has been ranked 20th nationally out of 550 colleges and universities in the Cyber Power Rankings, which were created by Cyber Skyline in partnership with the National Cyber League (NCL). The rankings represent the ability of students to perform real-world cybersecurity tasks on the Cyber Skyline platform.

Student success showcase celebrates outstanding advocates

The Office of Student Success hosted an informational showcase for faculty and staff, providing an opportunity to connect with the Shocker Learning Center, Success Coaching staff and First-Year Programs. The event also celebrated the vital role everyone plays in fostering student success and persistence at WSU.
