The Kiah Duggins Shocker Support Locker will be closed Friday, Oct. 31. The locker apologizes for any inconvenience this closure may cause. Individuals seeking additional assistance or information are encouraged to visit the Student Government Association office in 219 Rhatigan Student Center or email sga.locker@wichita.edu.

Financial Services will be closed part of Oct. 31 for staff development

The Financial Services office, located in 201 Jardine Hall, will be temporarily closed from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 for staff development.

Road striping work to wrap up Nov. 1

Road striping work will continue on campus starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, weather permitting. One lane traffic will remain open, but expect delays and plan ahead if you will be on campus during this time. The following are areas that will be impacted:

Perimeter Road at Shocker Hall to Mike Oatman Drive and near the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex
North Yale Avenue
Harvard Avenue and 17th Street

SGA Interfest fall 2025 – SGA’s commitment to celebrate the cultural diversity of Shocker Nation

Hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA), Interfest fall 2025 brings together international student organizations from across campus to celebrate and share their rich cultures, colorful traditions and delicious cuisines. This semester’s Interfest will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 in 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom.

Enjoy an afternoon filled with authentic traditional foods, vibrant cultural attire and music that showcases the global diversity of the Shocker Family. Each booth tells the story of a different country — its people, flavors and heritage — creating a one-of-a-kind cultural journey across the world in a single day.

Admission is free, and all students, faculty and community members are welcome.

Songfest is back with 2025 event: Best of Both Worlds

Mama Joe Project Community Engagement Forum 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1

Military and Veterans Services and AARP Kansas present: Mama Joe Project

Military and Veterans Services invites the community to the Community Engagement Forum at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex, presenting a documentary film that addresses the important issue of caregiving for a loved one. Afterward there will be a Q&A with local experts in caregiving, dementia navigation and healthy living.

The schedule:

3 p.m. – Documentary film
4 p.m. – Q&A with panelist
5 p.m. – Adjournment

The event is free and open to everyone (children are welcome). Snacks and workbook is provided to attendees.

UReCA Lunch & Learn: Rooted systems – Exploring indigenous approaches to place, structure and sustainability

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Hub (URECA) is hosting a panel on “Indigenous Approaches to Place, Structure, and Sustainability” from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 virtually, allowing campus to learn from worldviews that have long centered balance, reciprocity and respect for the land.

By bringing together local community members and out-of-state Indigenous voices, this event creates space for dialogue that bridges traditional knowledge with contemporary challenges. The panel encourages participants to rethink how they inhabit and care for the places the live, study and work — reminding them that sustainability is not just technical or economic, but also cultural and relational.

Math for Everyone Lecture Series: How mathematics is making Hollywood movies better

Join a public lecture by Professor Michael Dorff from Brigham Young University for the next “Math for Everyone Lecture.” The lecture, titled “How Mathematics Is Making Hollywood Movies Better?” will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 in 127 Jabara Hall. Following the talk, there will be an informal Q&A session and light refreshments for further discussion and engagement.

Student Engagement & Belonging (SEB) invites everyone on campus to lunch while listening to Dr. Cornel Pewewardy discuss “A.I. and Chat GPT Effects on Indigenous Culture Values: The Good, The Bad, and The Really Ugly” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 in 301 Rhatigan Student Center, Gridley Room. Biological sciences seminar continues with Erika Geisbrecht, Kansas State University, Nov. 3

The Department of Biological Sciences’ fall 2025 seminar series continues with a seminar from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3 in 218 Hubbard Hall with Erika Geisbrecht, Ph.D., of Kansas State University. She will give a public lecture titled, “Integration of proteomic and genetic approaches to understand muscle proteostasis.”
