Are you interested in joining a sorority? Panhellenic Council invites you to the Panhellenic COB Event from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 on Omega Court, just north of campus between Corbin Education Center and Eck Stadium.

Whether you missed Primary Recruitment in the fall or simply want to learn more about the vibrant Panhellenic community at Wichita State, this event is the perfect opportunity to explore.

Join to:

• Meet members from each Panhellenic chapter.
• Learn about the values, traditions and opportunities within the community.
• Discover if Greek Life is the next step in your journey.

You may even have the chance to receive a bid to join one of the sororities.

Stop by the Rhatigan Student Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 for the spring 2025 Involvement Fair to connect with fellow shockers, explore upcoming events and discover exciting student programs relating to the over 200 active student organizations.

The Office of Student Engagement & Belonging encourages students who are looking to find their community or want to get more involved on campus as a Shocker to make plans to attend this event. There will be hot chocolate and cookies for the early comers and amazing raffle prizes.

Start the semester off warm and cozy by enjoying hot cocoa with the colleges. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 and Thursday, Jan. 23, the academic colleges at WSU will serve Shockers hot cocoa to ring in the new semester.

Each college will serve the hot cocoa in their respective buildings:

• College of Applied Studies: Heskett Center lobby
• Barton School of Business: Woolsey Hall lobby
• College of Engineering: John Bardo Center
• Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences/Cohen Honors College: Lindquist Hall lobby
• College of Fine Arts: Duerksen Fine Arts Center in the Miller Lobby
• College of Health Professions: Ahlberg Hall lobby

Welcomefest takes place the first four weeks of the fall and spring semesters and features dozens of activities. Popular programs awaiting new and returning Shockers include the Winter Welcome, Shockers After Dark, Involvement & Community Fair and much more!

Hosted by various student groups and campus departments, most events are free and give all students a chance to get acquainted with each other, learn their way around campus and find ways to connect with the community.

Get ready to mark your calendars for the event of the year. The annual yard show is back and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. This year will be a collaboration with National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and Cultural Greek Council (CGC) to bring the community a show it won’t want to miss.

Get ready to witness the amazing talents and skills of WSU’s sororities and fraternities at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Shocker Hall courtyard.

Join Shocker Rowing for an evening full of fun on the downtown Arkansas River with S’mores and Oars from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28. The event is available at no additional charge with a Shocker ID and $20 for anyone without a Shocker ID.

Boats and Bikes will provide yard games, s’mores, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and pedal boats. Shocker Rowing will offer a “Learn 2 Row with Shocker Rowing” demonstration teaching anyone how to row on the Arkansas River, and fishing will be available through Wildlife and Fisheries.

Join the Shocker Career Accelerator for the Career Connection Root Beer Kegger from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 on the lawn east of Hubbard Hall. Grab a hot dog, an ice-cold root beer (while supplies last) and chat with employers to learn about their organizations. Connecting with employers in this casual environment is a great way to make initial connections and learn more about their organizations.

Don’t forget to bring your Shocker ID for entry. You can leave the formal attire behind because the dress code for this event is casual. Register and view employer list, and let others know about the Root Beer Kegger.

Join the Rhatigan Student Center at the Starbucks Lounge for its live music series, Monday Melodies, hosted on the last Monday of every month.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, enjoy live music from Miguel Antonio.

Join the Office of First-Year Programs and the Shocker Learning Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 on the second floor of the Shocker Success Center to get organized for the semester.

Bring your syllabi from your classes and your planner and the success coaches and transition mentors will help with the rest, including helping you put together a study plan and track your assignments, class projects, exams and everything else.

Free planner supplies will be available for use and enjoy some snacks, music and fun.
