September 8, 2021 — A group of physical therapy doctoral students are recruiting participants aged 65 and older for a home exercise research study to improve balance and walking speed. Participation in this study may help the field of physical therapy understand better methods to improve balance and walking speed using home exercise programs.
September 3, 2021 — Dr. Jennifer Celso — Wichita State College of Health Professions Department of Physical Therapy assistant program director and associate teaching professor — is requesting participants for a study involving Diastasis Rectus Abdominis (DRA) in postpartum women. The study is limited to women who have given birth six to 10 weeks ago and will compare how women with or without DRA function. Your participation may help physical therapists understand how to treat chronic low back pain in a technological age using at-home therapy services.

GIV Back at the GIV Warehouse. This volunteer opportunity will take place at the United Way GIV Warehouse. Volunteers will sort and coordinate household, hygiene, and everyday items that will then be given to local nonprofit organizations and their members. The dates for this event are September 10th, October 15th, and November 5th from 2:30-4:30pm.
September 2, 2021 — Volunteers are requested for the United Way Give Items of Value (GIV) program 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the following dates at the GIV Warehouse:
Meals on Wheels of Wichita. Volunteers will meet at Senior Services of Wichita at 10:30am for a brief orientation and guidance on delivering food according to proper social distancing guidelines. The address for the event is 200 S. Walnut, Wichita KS 67213. Volunteers will then be given food and addresses to deliver food. Volunteers must have reliable transportation and the volunteer shift should end by 1:00pm. The dates for this event include September 17th, October 15th, and November 12th. All service events may be cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions released by the university. Volunteers will be notified if the event is cancelled.
