Barb Myers, administrative specialist in the Department of Art, Design and Creative Industries, and Dr. Matthew Howland, assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology, have collaborated on a project to document and preserve graves and grave markers at Highland Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Wichita.

Myers and Howland are working with researchers from the Kansas Geological Survey to survey the ground to identify unmarked graves. The project is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation EPSCoR program.

Marie Bukowski, dean, College of Fine Arts, showcased her artwork at Art Basel Miami for Miami Art Week Dec. 3-7.

The invitation placed Bukowski alongside leading contemporary artists in one of the world’s most celebrated art events. ​Bukowski’s selection for Art Basel Miami acknowledges her contribution to contemporary art. Her work, featured in museum collections spanning Europe, Asia and the Americas, is recognized for its technical mastery and emotional depth.

Jacob McGlaun, Assistant Professor, Musical Theatre, in the School of Performing Arts, was featured in Music Theatre Wichita performance of “Holiday Extravaganza” Dec. 5-7.

Kate Compton

Kate Compton, Assistant Professor, Acting, in the School of Performing Arts, was featured in the Wichita Community Theatre performance of “Almost Maine” Dec. 4-14.

Kimberly Engber, dean, Cohen Honors College and associate professor of English, served as an external expert for the project “A Glossary of Transatlantic Literature in the Long Nineteenth Century” led by a research team at the University of Zagreb. The project was awarded funding from the NextGenerationEU Republic of Croatia National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Dr. Heather Henderson — Associate Dean for Research, Compliance and Accreditation in the College of Health Professions Dean’s Office and Assistant Professor of Public Health Sciences — taught the introductory course on teaching in higher education for Association of University Programs in Health Administration’s (AUPHA) Art of Teaching Institute that Henderson helped design.
