Want a chance to win $1,000? Then sign up for the Shocktoberfest Spirit Competition. Individual student groups and organizations are eligible to participate.

Groups must consist of at least eight members to qualify. Groups can earn points by attending and participating in events throughout Shocktoberfest. First, second and third place will win $1,000, $500 and $250 respectfully.

Shocktoberfest takes place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 5. The deadline to register your team for the Spirit Competition is 5 p.m. Sept. 17. Come by the Shocktoberfest Info Session at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 in 238 Rhatigan Student Center, Meeker Room, to learn more about Shocktoberfest and the Spirit Competition.

Wichita State Shocker Madness featuring a live performance by Tech N9ne; Saturday, Oct. 7 | 6pm

Shocker Madness kicks off the 2023-24 men’s and women’s basketball seasons starting at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7 in Charles Koch Arena, and this year’s event will be bigger than ever with the addition of a concert featuring hip-hop artist Tech N9ne.

Doors open at 5 p.m. No tickets are required for the event, and admission and parking are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at no additional charge.

Shocktoberfest Dine with the Deans on Wednesday, October 4 from 9 -11 am at the RSC 142 Harvest Room

Stop by for a light breakfast and conversation with the dean of your academic college at Dine with the Deans from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 in 142 Rhatigan Student Center, Harvest Room.

Learn about what new initiatives are occurring, ask questions and share knowledge. Dine with the Deans is a signature experience of Shocktoberfest and is coordinated by the Student Activities Council.

WuShock has reached another milestone in Shocker history. Celebrate Wu and 75 years of bringing Shockers together at Wu’s Birthday Bash from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2 on the first floor of the Rhatigan Student Center.

Wu’s Birthday Bash features music, games, snacks, cakes and a chance to congratulate Wu in person. Wu will be present at Wu’s Birthday Bash from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students with Shocker ID can stop by for an official Shocktoberfest T-shirt while supplies last.

Come out and be a part of Shocker Nation for Shocker volleyball’s Shocktoberfest weekend Oct. 6 and Oct. 8.

  • 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6: Find your favorite Shocker volleyball alumni in attendance for the annual alumni game, as Shocker volleyball takes on the Temple Owls.
  • 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8: Bring the family out to The Roundhouse for Wichita Eagle Family Day. For $32, you will receive four tickets, four hotdogs, four popcorns and four drinks. After the match, kids can participate in postgame serves on the court.

Shocker Athletics has announced Tech N9ne will headline this year’s Shocker Madness event, set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 inside Charles Koch Arena.

Tech N9ne is the co-founder of Strange Music Inc., the number-one independent hip-hop label in the world. His signature rapid-fire “chopper” style has solidified him as one of the leading pioneers of the underground hip-hop industry. In less than two decades, Tech himself has earned three gold records, sold over two million albums, and made multiple appearances on Forbes’s “Hip-Hop Cash Kings” list.

In addition to a performance from Tech N9ne, fans will get a first-look at the Shocker men’s and women’s basketball teams’ new styles of play under new head coaches Paul Mills and Terry Nooner when each team plays a scrimmage..
