Want to show your family what Shocker life is all about? The Braeburn Square Patio Party is the perfect place to show off Wichita State. From 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, enjoy deals from the vendors and food trucks and partake in a variety of games and music. Once you’ve gotten your fill, head across the street to Eck Stadium for the Shocker baseball scrimmage at 6 p.m.

Finish off the night with an outdoor movie at Cessna Stadium. At 8 p.m., bring your blankets, lawn chairs and watch the movie “Cars” with your classmates and family.

Stop by the Heskett Center lawn from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 for music, games and food, including your own roasted ear of corn. Food options are vegetarian with vegan options available. Once you’re done, move next door to Wilkins Stadium and support your classmates on the Shocker softball team as they face Butler Community College. Students can attend the game at no additional charge with their Shocker ID.

Student Government Association invites you to join a night of free food and games starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Chicken N Pickle, 1240 N. Greenwich Rd. While you’re there, you can also cheer on the teams in the inaugural Shocktoberfest Pickleball Tournament.

On campus and don’t want to drive? Transportation to Chicken N Pickle will be provided every half hour in front of Shocker Hall beginning at 6 p.m.

Starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, head on over to the Rhatigan Student Center for Shocker Make & Take. The Student Activities Council will be giving away custom DIY Shocktoberfest pillows for students. Remember to bring your Shocker ID for this free event.

Later tonight, Sept. 30, don’t miss the Shocktoberfest bonfire starting at 7:30 p.m. at Braeburn Square, a favorite among students. Shocker Cheer and Shocker Sound Machine will also be there to make sure Shockers have a good time. Grab dinner at one of the many Braeburn Square restaurants and enjoy a night of fun in front of the fire.

Shocktoberfest officially kicks off today at 11 a.m. just north of the Rhatigan Student Center. Stop by to get the official Shocktoberfest T-shirt, grab a lunch and sample smoothies from Smoothie King. And starting at noon, enjoy live performances from Shocker Sound Machine and Shocker Cheer, with special guest WuShock.

Hey, Shockers! Today starts Wichita State’s annual Shocktoberfest celebrations, a week full of tradition and Shocker spirit.

Shocktoberfest’s week of fun activities is one of WSU’s longest-standing traditions.

Below are the details of the biggest events that you won’t want to miss, all of which are free to students with their Shocker IDs:

2024 Shocktoberfest Brew Garden + Fan Fest at Kock Arena East Parking Lot

Enjoy an afternoon filled with beverages from your favorite local vendors right here on campus from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in the Charles Koch Arena. The Shocktoberfest Brew Garden + Fan Fest, in partnership with Shocker Athletics, will fill the alley and parking lot east of Koch Arena with music, breweries, food trucks and fun activities for the whole family.

The inaugural Entrepreneur Market will highlight the many diverse small businesses in our community run by alumni, students and friends. Browse market stalls from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 5 in Woolsey Hall to explore unique creations while supporting local businesses.

Wichita State University invites the entire community to join in its Shocktoberfest celebrations in a week full of tradition and Shocker spirit. Shocktoberfest, which runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 5, is the university’s biggest annual event and will include a brew garden, bonfire, an entrepreneur’s market, parade and athletic events.

Shocktoberfest has been a Wichita State tradition since 1991 and offers something for everyone, with a variety of events that cater to students, alumni and the greater Wichita community. The weeklong celebration is designed to showcase the vibrant, inclusive culture of Wichita State. Some of the week’s highlights include the following:

  • Bonfire – 7:30-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at Braeburn Square – Stay warm by the fire, and revel in the spirit of Shocktoberfest with WSU cheer, marching band and a few of your favorite athletes. This event will be on the lawn east of Braeburn Square near Oliver. Access the event from the bridge between Fuzzy’s and Social Tap.
  • Shocker Softball v. Butler Community College – 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at Wilkins Stadium
  • Patio Party – 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at Braeburn Square – This casual gathering promises an unforgettable evening to connect with Shocker Nation. Enjoy deals from our vendors, food trucks, games and music.
  • Shocker Baseball Fall Scrimmage – 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at Eck Stadium.
  • Outdoor Movie: Disney’s “Cars” – 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at Cessna Stadium — Join us at the historical Cessna Stadium for a free viewing of Disney Pixar’s family classic “Cars.” Bring your blankets, camp chairs and make yourself comfortable on the field. Popcorn is provided and outside snacks are welcome.

The big day:

Shocktoberfest culminates with a full day of festivities on Saturday, Oct. 5, offering a mix of events that bring together Shocker spirit, local entrepreneurs and family-friendly fun.

  • The inaugural Entrepreneur Market – from 9 a.m.-noon on Oct. 5 at Woolsey Hall – will highlight the many diverse small businesses created by alumni, the community, friends of the university and students.
  • Wichita State’s inaugural Shocktoberfest Brew Garden + Fan Fest is in partnership with Shocker Athletics and runs from 2-6 p.m. on Oct. 5. WSU will transform the alley and parking lot east of Charles Koch Arena for a fun-filled afternoon with music, food, drinks and fun for the whole family.
  • The Shocktoberfest Parade, which begins at 4 p.m. Oct. 5, is the highlight of the weeklong celebration. Participants will enjoy entertainment from the Shocker Sound Machine marching band, dance teams and decorated cars and floats from student groups and community members. For the best parade experience, grab a spot along Innovation Boulevard, Mike Oatman Drive or Perimeter Road. These locations offer great views and are easily accessible.
  • Shocker fans are invited to a free a sneak preview of the Wichita State men’s and women’s basketball teams at the annual Shocker Madness season kickoff event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in Koch Arena.
