Dr. Jamarco Clark

Wichita State has named Dr. Jamarco Clark as its next vice president for Student Affairs, effective July 1.

Clark currently serves as vice chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). In that role, he provides executive leadership for the Division of Student Affairs and the Department of Athletics, overseeing strategy, operations, fiscal stewardship and personnel across 22 departments and units.

He is an active scholar and graduate faculty member, teaching in online doctoral and master’s programs in higher education leadership. His research and publications focus on workplace wellbeing, trauma‑informed supervision and the experiences of student affairs professionals.

The Division of Student Affairs will interview four candidates for the vice president for Student Affairs. The fourth candidate, Dr. Eric Grospitch, higher education thought leader and coach project manager at Fort Hays State University, will be on campus April 1 and April 2.

Tariq Shamim, professor and chair of mechanical engineering at Northern Illinois University, is the final candidate for the associate dean of research position in the College of Engineering.

He will be on campus for an open forum at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 in 264 Rhatigan Student Center, Spencer Room, and for a meet and greet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 in 203 RSC, Lancelot Room.
