President Rick Muma stopped by the Shocker Success Center and Ablah Library May 7 to visit with students preparing for finals for this month’s Rick Rewards. President Muma chatted with the students studying and handed out snacks and meal vouchers to help them finish the semester strong.

President Rick Muma visited the Staff Senate Executive Committee virtually to recognize the members as the next recipient of Rick Rewards. The committee was recognized for their commitment to shared governance and their ongoing work to support Wichita State’s mission through collaboration and staff engagement.

President Rick Muma visited a collaborative meeting of individuals from Information Technology Services, Industry and Defense Programs, and the Department of Physics to recognize them as the next recipient of Rick Rewards. The interdisciplinary team supported faculty researchers’ ability to access research computing resources and put in place processes that will support future research at Wichita State.

President Rick Muma and the President’s Executive Team observed National Employee Appreciation Day March 6 in Woolsey Hall. The WSU Employee Appreciation Day was filled with conversations and food. WuShock also made an appearance to greet employees and take photos.

The event was part of President Muma’s Rick Rewards, a recognition of different departments every month to highlight the work of the Shocker community that betters everyone in Shocker Nation.

The team was celebrated for their work in promoting and enhancing WSU’s Student Success and Persistence initiative, which has resulted in large increases in fall-to-fall retention and bolstered overall enrollment.

The team members were celebrated for the recent successful reaccreditation of the Master of Arts in communication sciences and disorders and Doctor of Audiology programs.

The committee members were celebrated for their help in opening opportunities for more first-time-in-college students and building a culture of outreach that improves the student experience.

The team was recognized for exemplifying Wichita State’s student-centered mentality shown through their excellent customer service, being the go-to destination for many in the community to receive their passports.

President Rick Muma and WuShock crashed the Office of Human Resources’ monthly staff meeting to recognize the staff as this month’s Rick Rewards recipient. The staff was celebrated for the implementation of WuHire, a new system that streamlines the process of hiring staff and students for departments, making it easier for departments to support students on campus.
