President Rick Muma and the President’s Executive Team observed National Employee Appreciation Day March 6 in Woolsey Hall. The WSU Employee Appreciation Day was filled with conversations and food. WuShock also made an appearance to greet employees and take photos.

The event was part of President Muma’s Rick Rewards, a recognition of different departments every month to highlight the work of the Shocker community that betters everyone in Shocker Nation.

President Rick Muma and WuShock stopped by the Student Success and Persistence Coalition’s monthly meeting to recognize the team as the next recipient of Rick Rewards. The team was celebrated for their work in promoting and enhancing WSU’s Student Success and Persistence initiative, which has resulted in large increases in fall-to-fall retention and bolstered overall enrollment.

President Rick Muma stopped by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders to recognize the team as the next recipient of Rick Rewards. The team members were celebrated for the recent successful reaccreditation of the Master of Arts in communication sciences and disorders and Doctor of Audiology programs.

President Rick Muma and WuShock stopped by the SEM Leadership Committee meeting to recognize its members as the next recipient of Rick Rewards. The committee members were celebrated for their help in opening opportunities for more first-time-in-college students and building a culture of outreach that improves the student experience.

President Rick Muma stopped by the Faculty Senate Executive Committee to recognize the faculty as the next recipient of Rick Rewards. The committee was celebrated for their commitment to shared governance and their ongoing work to support Wichita State’s mission through collaboration and faculty engagement.

President Rick Muma and WuShock stopped by the Post Office on the first floor of Morrison Hall to recognize the staff as the next recipient of Rick Rewards. The team was recognized for exemplifying Wichita State’s student-centered mentality shown through their excellent customer service, being the go-to destination for many in the community to receive their passports.

President Rick Muma and WuShock crashed the Office of Human Resources’ monthly staff meeting to recognize the staff as this month’s Rick Rewards recipient. The staff was celebrated for the implementation of WuHire, a new system that streamlines the process of hiring staff and students for departments, making it easier for departments to support students on campus.

President Rick Muma, first gentleman Rick Case and WuShock stopped by Landscape and Ground Maintenance at Gaddis Physical Plant to recognize them as this month’s Rick Rewards recipient. President Muma and Case wished to celebrate their work in keeping the campus beautiful for our students, employees and visitors, and for all of their hard work making sure our community is safe during inclement weather, like during the winter storms the campus experienced in January.

President Rick Muma and WuShock surprised the Child Development Center Jan. 17 for this month’s Rick Rewards. President Muma wished to recognize the important work the staff and teaching assistants do for the community, both for the university and for the city, as well as recognize the important applied learning opportunities they offer to Shockers.
