Wichita State systems and internet are fully restored.

If you continue to experience any technical issues, contact the ITS Help Desk at 316-978-4357 (HELP).

The wichita.edu site search feature is temporarily experiencing technical difficulties with some broken result links. A support ticket has been filed with the vendor, but in the interim, you may need to copy and paste the link into your browser to reach some entries.

Remote access to the Wichita State network via VPN has been partially restored and is available for use now for individuals using university-owned devices. Some changes have been made to the login procedures, however, so users will need to follow the following steps in order to connect:

  • Employees using university-owned Windows operating system devices should change their VPN configuration to log in to VPN-EMP.wichita.edu.
  • Employees using university-owned Apple MacOS or iOS devices should change their VPN configuration to log in to VPN-Mac.wichita.edu.

More detailed instructions can be found at wichita.edu/vpnupdate.

At this time, VPN access using personally owned devices is not permitted.

If you have any questions, please contact the IT Help Desk at 978-HELP.

Internet and email access has been restored. Most key systems should now be functional, though ITS continues working to bring back a few more applications.

Remote access to the network through VPN continues to be offline. We will provide an update on VPN access when able.

Anyone experiencing network, internet or application issues can contact the Help Desk at 978-HELP.

Thank you to the campus community for your patience and understanding.

Over the weekend, Wichita State University took proactive measures and disconnected several University systems to isolate an unauthorized attempt by a third party to access the University’s systems. Most of the University system access has been restored and there has been no indication that any of the University’s secure data or information has been compromised. The University will continue to engage its security protocols in restoring full availability of all networks and systems, prioritizing student needs.

At this time, we anticipate that the University will have restoration of all networks and major systems by tomorrow but are also mindful that these incidents often create residual issues and future interruptions may occur. Cyber incidents have unfortunately become more common, especially in large organizations like WSU. The University has and continues to devote the necessary resources to its digital infrastructure to guard against unauthorized access. We appreciate the Shocker community’s continued patience.

Wichita State’s technical teams continue to work on the server and networking issues. Access to WSU systems will be limited Monday, May 1.

We apologize for the disruption and will continue to keep you informed.
