Join an informal workshop to find potential grant collaborators at Wichita State and to discuss the grant support infrastructure needs for biomedical humanities.

KMUW will discuss “Running Dry: The future of water in Kansas” during June’s Engage ICT at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 13. To submit a question about the Ogallala Aquifer, Cheney Reservoir or the Wichita city water facilities, email info@kmuw.org or comment on the Facebook video.

KMUW’s monthly book club features selections made by its staff. For June, KMUW is reading “Symphony of Secrets” by Brendan Slocumb.

Participants will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21 at KMUW for a group discussion over dinner and drinks. Dinner is provided by Public, and guests are invited to bring a beverage to share with the group.

Those on campus starting Thursday, May 25 will notice a huge influx of visitors. We expect about 15,000 high school athletes and spectators on campus through Saturday, May 27 for 5A state baseball and softball May 25-26 and state track May 26-27.

Tents and golf carts will be deployed across campus to assist visitors, but anyone who notices someone looking lost can use the information on the WSU state track and tournaments webpage to guide our guests to the resources they need.

Join the Ulrich Museum of Art for an exploration of its newest exhibitions on display this summer at its Ulrich Summer Exhibition opening celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 25.

The exhibitions on display over the summer are “Susan Copich: Staged Stories,” “In Event of Moon Disaster” and “Artists at Work: The Ulrich Staff Creates.” As with all of the Ulrich’s programming, this event is available at no additional charge, and everyone is invited.

The College of Engineering is hosting a pre-commencement reception from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13 in Devlin Hall. Graduates from the college and their families are invited to enjoy refreshments and mingle with staff and faculty.

The previous day, all university graduates are invited to participate in the Commencement Cruise at 3 p.m. in Lot 1 and The Toast at 5 p.m. on the Hubbard Hall east lawn.

Faculty, staff, students and Wichita State partners are invited to a biomedical humanities organizational meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 1 in the 262 Rhatigan Student Center, Herrman Room.

Biomedical humanities includes a wide range of scholarship, coursework and service. The following is a list of just some of the Biomedical Humanities work already in progress at WSU. Join and add additional interests to the list and help it organize and plan events for the 2023-24 academic year.

The Shocker Career Accelerator is hosting two on-campus job fairs over the summer. The first is from 1 to 3 p.m. July 28 and the second is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25. Both events will be hosted in the Rhatigan Student Center Beggs Ballroom.

These events allow Wichita State offices and departments to connect with undergraduate and graduate students interested in applying for open positions.
