Any faculty or staff who are interested in being involved with the Women’s Leadership Initiative are invited to a planning meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov 2 in 266 Rhatigan Student Center, Pike Room. 

At the meeting, attendees will break into working groups such as mentoring circles, professional development, conference planning and social/networking opportunities.

Student Health Services (SHS) is hosting its next Pee for Pizza event. It will take place noon-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Student Wellness Center in the Steve Clark YMCA.

Pee for Pizza is a sexual health awareness event that allows participants to test for sexually transmitted illnesses such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV and hepatitis C and know their status at no additional charge. Pizza is also provided to participants.

Co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Positive Direction and Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes, Pee for Pizza is by reservation only. No walk-ins will be accepted. Participants must not use the restroom at least one hour before testing.

Join the next Mental Health and Movement class starting at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 31 in the Steve Clark YMCA Studio, where participants will explore what makes practicing movement feel so hard, the benefits of moving and how to use the resources at the YMCA.

The four-week class is open to anyone at no additional charge and sponsored by the YMCA and HOPE Services. Participants will practice basic yoga in the session.

The Office of Diversity of Inclusion (ODI) will host a movie night from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 in 233 Rhatgian Student Center for Native American Heritage Month.

The movie takes place in the 90’s and showcases the 78-day armed stand-off with government forces to protect a burial ground from developers. Beans is based on true events and is directed by Mohawk-Canadian filmmaker, Tracey Deer.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to a Halloween Open House from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Grace Wilkie Annex.

Stop by the TRIO DSS Office, the Office of Online & Adult Learning, the McNair Scholars Office and the ROTC Office to enjoy spooky snacks and creepy crafts and learn more about what each office has to offer. Students are also welcome to participate in a costume contest.

As the midterm season wraps up, it is not uncommon to feel burnt out or depleted. Join the Office of Strengths, Assessment and Staff Experience (SASE) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 on the Rhatigan Student Center east patio to make s’mores treats, have fun and relax with coloring pages while supplies last.

Come join SAC and Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes with celebrating veterans for the Veterans Day event from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 in the Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes.

Veterans and their families can join the SAC and Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes for bowling, billiards, crafts, food and more at no additional charge.

Veterans must show their military ID and is open to campus and Wichita community veterans

The Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI) is excited to host a fun gathering for Dia de los Muertos from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 in 208 Rhatigan Student Center. Join ODI to paint sugar skulls, grab goodie bags and delicious snacks.

The Department of English is hosting its second annual Halloween Movie Night at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 in 231 Hubbard Hall.

Join the movie night for a screening of the 1968 film “Night of the Living Dead.” Popcorn, candy and drinks will be provided at no additional charge.

Get ready for a Spooktacular Halloween extravaganza from the College of Health Professions (CHP) during CHP Week. Join CHP from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 in the Ahlberg Hall main lobby for a hauntingly fun event filled with pumpkin painting, a photo booth, eerie decorations and ghoulish delights.
